I sent an email to my local MP's office (which happens to be Trudeau) regarding my citizenship application as it has been a year since I filed my application with little movement. A lady from the office answered and asked me to call them to discuss my situation in more details. Has this happened to anyone else as in they ask you to call MP's office to obtain more information?

Yes it’s quite okay. They will get all your details to be sure you are from their constituency and will discuss next steps with you. A word of advice: if you don’t get the desired feedback from them, keep emailing/calling regularly otherwise they forget your issue. Goodluck

Disagree. The office can only provide you with certain information and will essentially check up to make sure that your application is being processed in a similar time frame as others with no other issues. If you don’t get the answer you want there is no point in contacting them over and over again. Your timeframe is not unusual so you will likely be told to keep wait for your test invite. The office can’t influence processing if you are in line with others timeframe.

Well, it depends! In my case, MP’s office pushed my up request through when it seemed it was rejected by IRCC. I got the MP case Mgr to take it up seriously after calling and emailing severally. He had to liaise with ircc of course and provided me with regular updates. That worked for me; hence my sharing. May not work for everyone though, esp if there’s no strong backing for wanting their intervention.

The MP can't change the mind of a visa agent. If you provided proof then MP can highlight the proof you submitted if they feel it wasn't considered or if the MP feels that processing has exceeded normal processing times they can ask about your application. In general they report back similar findings as the GCMS notes or tell you that your applications is within normal processing times and you'll need to wait.
