Hi @legalfalcon

i am 2020 Jan AOR, GCMS as per 6th May-2020 says eligibility passed and file approved by officer, Security Pending,

POF- is Adequately met, but i need to put some funds out for an investment and thinking of taking off form the POF, for two months, is that a wise idea?

Currently it stands at 1.4times POF but when i take if off it will be half of required POF.

My spouse has funds stuck in one of his FD's (2times required POF) in his personal FD for about a year now which we have not declared in the our Application. also his job earnings are USD5K a month, (have salary slips and bank transfers to confirm - but have not declared it also in our application since my own funds and income were sufficient to show the POF )

question taking off the funds from my account that was provided to IRCC for POF will have any bearing to my application ?

i am at the final leg of the application and i don't want to Risk it for this investment. if it has any concern.

as always appreciate your guidance.

The rule is you have to show POF when you apply and also when you land in Canada. Your PoF has to be in a form that is available to you readily, can be liquidated, and not subject to market risk.

As long as you meet the PoF, any excess can be withdrawn and used and has no impact on your application.

Hi @legalfalcon

thank you for your reply. can you clarify following ?

Can i take out my POF now ? ( if i do this my POF will be half of IRCC requirement) and replace it in 2 months?
No, you have to meet the 6 months average requirement, i.e. you not only have to have the funds, they should also have been there with your for the last 6 months or you have to show where they came from.

Hi @legalfalcon

I am AOR Jan 2020 CEC applicant still waiting for copr. I can’t see any update on my online account neither I receive any GU for anything happening in background like passing security, extension of medicals etc. I came to know about these updates only from IRCC agents. At present only final decision is pending on my file.

So to make things clear I am planning to order another set of GCMS notes now(earlier I requested in September 2020). I want to know whether IRCC will finalise my application (if they wish to) after GCMS notes are sent to me or it does not have any impact on my application decision, they can finalise my application even before I receive GCMS notes.

Thanks. I always really appreciate your valuable feedback to the members of the forum and helping them taking right decisions.

Requesting GCMS notes has no impact on the processing of your application. They are independent processes done under different laws by different divisions or IRCC.

Requesting GCMS has no bearing on the pace of progress with your application or it's outcome.

It's almost as good as coin toss whether you will receive your GCMS file in 30 days or if it's going to take far longer. Some/one GCMS provider has disproportionately been receiving 90 day extensions, so beware from where you request. The unfortunate part is that IRCC has categorized 3rd party GCMS providers into tiers when it comes to extensions. As a result some 3rd parties will usually get 90 days extensions while others receive 60 day extensions.

This is based off stats from IRCC see

Thanks a lot @caipsnotes. So it would be better to get CBSA notes analysing the current scenario ?

On my personal experience :
- CBSA => 120 days delay...
- During this loooooonnnnggggg waiting time I've ordered IRCC twice : 21 days for one and 28 days for the second one....

As it's written, the statistics presented are from 2019-2020 more precisely from April 1st 2019 to March 31st 2021 !!!
So it doesn't take in count the explosion of request due to Covid-19!!!
Also, I think that the explosion of request was bigger for CBSA gcms when you see the high level (you can check different tracker) of case stuck with a security or backgroung check concern
The delay I faced, confort my opinion...

I will rather order both whichever comes first will be sufficient, as my background check and security is already passed. I just want to make sure in writing that everything is done on my file which I came to know from IRCC agent. Bit anxious as i am waiting from last 14 months in spite of being a CEC candidate. Anyhow thanks for your valuable feedback.

March 31st, 2020 is probably what you meant?

It's all relative, CBSA ATIP is a much smaller team vs IRCC ATIP and an increase in requests can constrain the teams in different ways.

Here is a comment from a CBSA ATIP analyst

I hope this message finds you well. In recent months, we have faced a doubling of our requests for information which is putting us in a delay situation. We are taking steps to fix this issue, which should help us get back to a much better flow very soon.

Receiving GCMS from IRCC in < 30 days is mostly luck as about half the folks who request from IRCC receive it within the legislated time frame of 30 days or less.

That is the best option. The risk of processing delays at IRCC or CBSA exists. This risk can not be fully eliminated but it can be reduced by requesting the notes from both IRCC and CBSA. This is the best option available as the processing of notes from any government agency can not be expedited.
