Hi there,

I recently just received my ITA under Express Entry for CEC! I am currently filling out my information form before they give my document checklist and had a few questions regarding some of the Family Information as I am having a hard time trying to understand this:

1. "How much money will I bring into Canada to support myself and my family?" - This field is not required to be filled out as it does not have "required" in red writing next to the question. However, do I still need to be putting any information down for this? I read somewhere that CEC applicants will not have to show proof of funds and don't have to put anything down for this.

2. "Do I have a relative who is a Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada?" - When I initially made my profile for EE I clicked "no" for this field however it slipped my mind that I do actually have an Aunt and Uncle that reside here as citizens, but are currently visiting in India and have been there for quite some time... Do they count as relatives? If so, should I be changing my answer to Yes?

3. "Please tell us about your immediate family members that have not been identified on this application" - It's saying this is required to fill... however I will not be bringing anyone with me as I am not married, already in Canada, and only have parents and siblings who do not want to immigrate here with me (I also have cousins back home but I don't think they would apply or be considered immediate? Can someone please touch on this as well?). Do they still want this information from me regardless if they are not in Canada/will not be coming to Canada?? This is the one that I am really stumped on and don't quite understand.

I want to fill this application out accurately so there are no complications with the IRCC, so any help in this will be greatly appreciated! :)

Thank you!

  1. I am lean on putting how much money you have at your disposal in the question but follow the IRCC website guide and upload a LOE to replace the POF you will be asked to upload.
    https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1145&top=29
"The system currently asks all applicants to provide a proof of funds document. If you don’t need to provide proof of funds, you must upload a letter explaining either that you have been invited to apply under the Canadian Experience Class, or that you have a valid job offer. "

That being said @NOC98 did say that you can put 0 in the number now and the upload area for POF will disappear. Although I respect his idea because there are people who got their PR using this way, I still think following IRCC guideline is better. Help me sleep better if you get what I mean. My application passed A10 completeness check with the LOE method. I was at the same boat with you. (That being said NOC98 also got this PR approved using his suggested way.)
  2. Aunt/Uncle does not give you any point so no point. Changing stuff after ITA is never a good idea, do it only when its critical and always explain your reason of change in LOE.
  3. Your immediate family member info is required for IRCC to do a background check. Although they are not accompanying you you will still be required to input their info. They won't be contacted and IRCC WILL know who is your immediate family member during their BGC. Like most questions in the application IRCC know most of the answers already but they are just testing if you are honest in answering it beforehand.

Example of POF LOE that might help you:

Date: *Date here*

Subject: Letter of Explanation for Proof of Means of Financial Support

Dear officer,
Kindly consider that as an applicant of the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) stream, I am not required to provide any proof of funds as per the CIC website: (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1145&top=29)

Quote from CIC website: “Note: You do not have to meet the funds requirement if you were invited to apply under the Canadian Experience Class.
The system currently asks all applicants to provide a proof of funds document. If you don’t need to provide proof of funds, you must upload a letter explaining either that you have been invited to apply under the Canadian Experience Class, or that you have a valid job offer.”

I am of course at your disposal to provide you with any additional documents and explanations that you deem useful for the processing of my electronic Application for Permanent Residence (e-APR).

Thank you in advance for the time devoted to the treatment of my e-APR.

Sincerely,

*Your name*

Hi Andy, thank you very much for your response and help. It is greatly appreciated! :)

Just to touch on question 1, do I still put funds in or leave the section blank? I did originally put down just shy over the minimum funds required on my EE application because it was a required field to fill at the time however now it's an optional field to fill. Do you recommend that I keep the same amount that I originally put?

Please can you provide a sample LOE for aunt/uncle who you can’t prove your relationship with.
