Hello everyone. I am planning to apply for citizenship online within this month. I am just confused what to answer for this question: have you ever help immigration or citizenship status in another country other than canada?
i landed in canada on dec 8, 2017. But in December 2016, i visited dubai just for 6 days as a visitor. I am really confused do i need to enter that details too?
If yes, which dates do i enter in issue and expiry of the visa? As my entry permit was issued on 14th dec 2016 and was valid till feb 2017. But i only went to dubai for 6 days. Do i just enter those 6 days?
If someone has same situation, can you please suggest?
Thanks in advance
I would venture that immigration status would mean immigrant visas i.e. permanent residency (like Green Card). Visit visas to any place shouldn't count.

So no, you have not held immigration status anywhere else, and citizenship status of the country that you are originally from I guess.

Other posters to confirm.

Hello everyone
If by any chance during the 4 years of eligibility someone was here in canada , and while answering her question regarding the police (186 in an other country) certificat he answer YES and add his country police certificate do you think they will reject the application? ( the answer normally after reading all the forum should be NO).

Thanks for the reply. I got confused only because in drop down of immigration status, it also gives an option of visitor. That’s why i wanted to confirm. My citizenship coutry is india where i was born.

I had very similar question so I called CIC and got someone who actually answered. im just repeating what the agent on the phone told me. So apparently every document that you had to apply for in other countries like work permits, visitor visas, student visas etc. should be included. I’m from an European Union member country so I had a situation when I worked in the UK for a few months so I ask her if I should include something like this when I didn’t have to apply for any documents cause cause it’s EU and you can just go to other member country and work and she said yes cause I was actually living there paying taxes and contributing so I had a status. She said that if you have documents then mention dates on those document and if there was no document then just use the date of arrival and departure. I asked what about just visiting a country for a few days and she said that if you had to apply for any documents to be able to do it then include it but if not then it’s not necessary.
Again, this is just what that one person on the phone told me, it’s your decision what you’re going to do with this information, I’m not an authority.

The old form did not mention visitor. The old form mentioned this :

"Tell us which countries you have held status in, and exactly what status you held or currently hold (student, employment/worker, refugee/protected person, permanent resident or citizen)"
There was no mention of visitor status here. Also, there were no dropdowns in the old form.

In the new form, however, I can see that there is a dropdown for "Visitor" so it would be wise to fill in that information.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Maybe that was one of the reasons there is a new form.

Thanks for giving your feedback. I just called cic today to confirm about it. The agent told me if you did not use passport for other country then no need to include details for visiting there. She mentioned its only if you are refugee, worker you had passport of other countries.
i decided not to include this information now as it is just 5 days trip.

Sorry what do you mean by that? Did you have to apply for some sort of visa to be able to visit Dubai? Did you use your Indian passport?

I don’t know exactly what the person you talked to told you but it doesn’t really match what the person I talked to told me. According to what I was told you should include everything you had to apply for. I don’t know which agent was correct though. Do you remember the name of the one you talked to?

Sorry. I did not ask her name. If they enquire about it while checking the documents then i will definitely mention this conversation.

1. Yes, the document needs to be translated in English or French. Documents that are not in English or French must be translated by a certified translator
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/refugee-protection/removal-risk-assessment/translation.html

2. The tax years will pre populate once you answer the question No 9: (a) Enter To date from calculator......

Hope these help !

I moved to Canada as PR and never went outside Canada for over 3 years (1224 days)

What should I select for the question -

Did you leave Canada between 2016-03-13 and 2021-03-12? Answer 'Yes' if you left Canada for any reason including vacation, work, business, family matters, school, illness, etc.

I never left Canada however I lived in India in 2016 before moving as PR.

Please help.
The intention behind the question is to know if you moved out of Canada after gaining your Permanent Residency status. If no, you may select NO.

Please Note: You can always give a clarification in the LoE (Letter of Explanation) !

Hi everyone. I am applying for citizenship at the end of the month. I have completed the paper application but now I am thinking that I should submit it online as it seems to be going a bit faster.

However, how would I upload the required passport photo to the online application?
