No its not unfair treatment. Spouses or not it is required. You think someones spouse deserves favourtism? Why is that?

I seriously disagree they should be exempt. I wish they were but that would be unfair to others in my opinion.

Unfair to who ? To vacationers returning? You either have lots of money to throw around or simply a sheep person who would agree with any ridiculous thing government tells you to do. Or simply trolling

If this law comes into force middle class canadians will postpone their trips and will save some money. Wealthy canadians will travel anyways, because it is not much of deterrent to them. Most immigrants cannot enter Canada now, so not applicable to them...It is family reuniting who will be affected the most by this.

Sheep and troll? Define clearly. Me English is no good? Eye wood like to understood this.

I believe spouses will have a chance to have it weaved, because it is unfair treatment. Many of us have been saving some money to start a new life together, not to throw our money away and pay for something that you don't want or need.

I guess we will see when it comes into effect. A spouse or relative is just as likely to be infected as anyone else. If you don't have the money you shouldn't plan to travel. You will need confirmation that you have a room booked at one of the designated hotels or you won't be allowed to board a flight to Canada.

Here is a quote from the canada website. I think they will be targeting people going on vacations and travelling for pleasure. Spouses coming to be with their family in my opinion is essential.

“People who travel by air for non-essential reasons, such as vacation, will face new measures and expenses when they return to Canada.”

It also says this:

"This new 3-day accommodation requirement will be mandatory for all air travellers arriving in Canada, with some limited exceptions. Travellers must remain in their hotel rooms."

We will have to wait and see what the "limited exceptions" are.

I am Canadian citizen, my wife is PA. She doesn't have that amount of money and I don't want to pay for it.The government has to waive it or let her quarantine at some other place. We won't be able to postpone trip. I saw on Facebook group people are contacting their local MP s . Obviously people are uset at this and going to fight. One MP also said that 2 000 pay is presumably for 14 day hotel stay

Sorry to tell you but the gov't doesn't HAVE to do anything. Why won't you pay the money if it's required, you do want her to come here and you say the trip can't be postponed. If there is no exemption and I doubt there will be, then you will have to pay or she can't come,

How far in the future are the travel plans?

I don't know maybe several months. In countries like New Zealand and Australia up to 90 percent manage to avoid paying for quarantine. If people can't pay, they don't pay, but still allowed to enter.

We should pay, as tax payers and to follow the Candian system and standards they set. Rules are rules.
