Hello all,

I am a PR holder in Canada since July 2019. I am a little bit confused in the sense of either doing a visa or a direct spousal sponsorship given the COVID situation. I plan on marrying in the month of May (This year) and I am trying to understand if I should have her get a visa (prior to marriage) or do an outland family class spousal sponsorship for her (after marriage).

I would like to have the paperwork completed in the earliest timelines and I have no idea how delayed the current timeline is. Any thoughts about this :) ?

Recommend that you sponsor your spouse outland as soon as you are married and have returned to Canada. She can apply for a TRV at the same time. However processing times for TRVs are quite long right now and there's no guarantee of approval.

Outland sponsorship application processing times are around a year and a half right now.
