Is it possible to hire a caregiver if they have no childcare experience?

Hi, sorry if this is a stupid question! I want to hire a live in childcare helper but I’d feel more comfortable hiring family. Is it possible to get someone without prior childcare experience approved? They do have their own children. I would just feel more comfortable having family take care of my child. They are outside of Canada. Thank you so much for any replies.

It is a hit or miss thing to do although I read in one forum years ago, the applicant was a 15 yrs govt employee and studied Caregiver. No experience at all applied as a caregiver in Canada and got approved. But you know it is really a risk you have to take because sometimes it also depends on the Immigration officer who will handle your case. So there it is really up to you to take that course and maybe submit a well written letter of explanation as well to your application. And to add to that with the new HCCPP it was indicated paid or unpaid experience so maybe...just maybe your plan will work out. Goodluck!

Because the system was being abused by people trying to hire family members for PR, it is heavily scrutinized. You need a LMIA so You have to show that you advertised and couldn’t find anyone in your own area. You need to present a plan with a wage that meets the average. Assume you have a business registration number so that you can deduct taxes etc. from the salary. It takes a long time.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the temporary worker as an in-home caregiver program you referenced above is different from the HCCPP or HSWP below. As far as I know the HCCP and HSWP don't require a LMIA:
