@assen89 - Good words. Just grateful we made the cutoff and already in line to be PRs soon. @dgeorge - I can understand this seems bit stressful but I am very positive that you'll get the good news soon. Let's hang in there little bit longer for our turn and hopefully with this pace it'll be soon.

@assen89 - Most probably folks like you and me who are in AB will probably have their COPR issued through local VO either CGY or EDM. My GCMS mentioned Edmonton VO as one of my secondary VO. Have you recorded any recent cases who got COPRs through Edmonton VO?? If not much, maybe they'll start their COPR rain soon.

I gave my bio Mar 2020, application was approved in Aug 2020. This is totally unfair to the Jan - May 2020 applicants.

I am based in Calgary, but I think from the previous GCMS notes my secondary office is Edmonton.I have seen a couple of people issued COPR by the Calgary office, not sure why my secondary office was Edmonton.I have not seen any recent case of Edmonton VO issuing COPR.Will all applicants in Alberta have to wait for COPR to be issued by either Edmonton or Calgary when it is concluded by IRCC in Ottawa?

All the people I know who applied from Alberta in either PNPs or CECs got their COPR through either CGY VO or EDM VO. However, times are different now due to COVID, so maybe folks from AB start getting direct COPRs from Ottawa itself. Edmonton VO is relatively quiet these days in issuing COPRs. I remember last year in 2020 some of my friends (5 of 'em) were waiting for their COPR from many weeks but everyone (all 5 are Calgary residents) got their approvals from Edmonton VO on June 1st 2020, literally on the same day. Let's see how it goes in our cases. #FingersCrossed.

My VO is Ottawa. No need to get depressed, your application has not been rejected like other applicants and your not in tough situation like new graduates who are struggling to get jobs and the required hours that qualify to apply for express entry, that recently just got provided with an 18 month extension lifeline.

You are actually in a priviledged position compared to many others struggling and are just waiting for COPR.
No offence intended, but those of us who applied early 2020 with the expectation that within 6 months of our application we'd have our PR, and have now been waiting for 12 months, are not in a privileged position.
Without my PR and BOWP I was unable to leave my employer to find a new role which has meant earning substantially less than I could in the market, going to work everyday doing something I didn't enjoy along with an overwhelming sense of feeling trapped and like I can't control the direction of my own life.

I do understand that the world isn't ending and I'm sure everything will come through eventually but pointing to a group of people who could arguably have it worse than us, to show us that we should be happy with our situation isn't productive.

I kind of get the reasoning behind having the local VO issue the COPR's. They will also be the ones to issue the PR card as well, instead of have it mailed from Ottawa and save delivery costs that will otherwise have been incurred to other provinces as well as time.

I wish we had access to some kind data of issuance of COPR's by Edmonton and Calgary VO to at least get an idea how long it will take, after the file is passed to them from Ottawa.

If they were able to provide some kind of timeline, this would have reduced the mental stress for most applicants, especially those from Jan-May, 2020. The uncertainty is what is driving people crazy.

They should work on implementing real time updates when eligibility, criminality and security background is checked. This will drastically reduce the number of calls received by call center agents from applicants inquiring about the status of their application.

I agree on this. Like the expected timelines on when each stage will be completed and when is it completed. It will def lower the number of calls and webforms.

Man, I'm a CEC applicant and my AOR was in October 2019) its Feb 2021 and I'm still waiting. In April i would be already 1 year overdue of my original expected date, which means I've already could count 1 year for my passport application. That's a joke for me that ppl who applied in Aug 2020 getting their COPRs. Pointing the fact that borders are closed, and i don't even need to cross them, as I'm already leaving, working and paying taxes in ON. Recently i received my SECOND bridge work permit, for me and my wife (which we payed 450CAD). All the stages are passed, and only final officer review is needed.

It's so frustrating.
It's quite clear that if your application was put "on-hold" for a moment because of covid (due to biometrics or something else) you're left in limbo. They're now processing at regular speed new applicants and seems there's no incentive to sort files by AOR date and process those who have been waiting for so long...

Oh wow! This must be extremely frustrating. Can you contact the member of parliament for your area to get it completed?
