Is it possible for a person with H4 dependent visa to cross land border from Windsor to Detroit? My wife is planning to come but I’m not sure if the visa officers will allow.

Yes, she can cross the border with valid visa or valid i94.

Are you talking about crossing or commuting?
Where is the problem in entering US(doesnt matter if its land/air from any country) when you have valid visa?
No one can answer broader question. Why do you think you will not be allowed?

Thank you for the reply. Sure, I will explain in more detail. Due to covid, all the non essential travel is banned between US Canada land border. I am a permanent resident in Canada and my wife lives in USA. I have an H4 Visa(issued recently) and would like to know if I can go to US via land border.

Are you visiting or moving? There wont be any issue for moving.
I am not sure how well you can manage short visits while being on H4.

I am non-essential worker and i am being allowed without any issue for work. People are traveling for work and join spouse.

Thanks for the reply. I will be visiting, I have plan to stay in US for 2 months and then come back to Canada. I have that concern as well, will it be OK to do multiple trips back and forth with a H4 visa.

No one knows on how the officer will assess the situation. They will initially allow and later you can see if some officer will start telling not travel frequently anymore and then you can plan on moving on one side permanently. Till that time you can travel.

You should be ok, in 2019 one of my friend has done this via land border for every two/three weeks. She was on H4. Did not had any issues.
