Hello everyone,
Asking for a friend..
CEC profile.
total canadian work experience claimed= 2 years
ITA received= January 22, 2021
My friend has worked appropriately 3232.5 hours in 2 years.
However, hours worked for the first employment period of December 24, 2018 to Dec 23, 2019 were- 1552.5 hrs (7.5 hrs short to 1560 hrs).
And the second employment period from Dec 24,2019 to Dec 23,2020 were- 1680 (and ongoing until ITA on January 22, 2021).
My question- Are hours calculations for 2 years based on employment period (year to year) or untill ITA. Because total hours worked until January 22, 2021 are 3232.5 (more than the requirement of total 3120 hrs in 2 years).
Thanks

Hi,
Technically it is until you get ITA. FYI, You can combine the hours of both your employments. You can only count 30 hours per week for CEC. Any hours worked after 30 hours for that particular week are not counted by CIC. So you have to work for 30 hour per week for 52 weeks in order to count it as 1 year experience. For 2 years 30 hours per week for 104 weeks.

You have really got to tell your 'friend' to start reading IRCC's webpages.

Actual worked hours don't matter. The only hours you can count are the first 30 hours worked every week. Any time worked beyond 30 hours each work should NOT be counted.

Based on this logic you need at least 1 year (or 52 weeks) to accrue 1560 hours (1 year of FT experience equivalent). 30 hours/week * 52 weeks= 1560. And so on, for each additional year you need another 52 weeks.

Hence, it is IMPOSSIBLE, as you stated, to have 1680 hours between DEC 24, 2019 and DEC 23, 2020. The most hours you can accumulate every 52 weeks is 1560 hours.

So each time you accumulate 1560 hours you can claim 1 year of FT experience, and for that you need at least 52 weeks (1 year).

It is your "friend's" responsibility to figure this out.
