Delayed open work permit - refugee claimant

I applied for a work permit on October 1. All people that applied after me received their work permits already except me. I have called immigration service number several times but agents can't help. What should I do? My brother applied a month after I sent mine - today he received his.

what can I do? I need to switch jobs. My new employer want to see a a valid work permit not hearing explanations.

Check the processing times - it’s about 100 days minimum. Every application is unique some people get it earlier , some later... we cannot rely on that

Wait a sec. did you apply for extension or initial one ?
If you’ve applied for an extension- you supposed to get a letter confirming that you are eligible to work whil they are reviewing the documents
If it’s an initial, unfortunately I haven’t heard about priority processing of wp for essential workers ... just for frontline healthcare , but this program applies only to PR applications. It’s better to call ircc , but I don’t think that they will provide you unique information about the terms... they all say the same

I applied to extend my old one before it expired. They just provided me with confirmation for work permit extension. They said that they could give me anote but still no processing time given. Not sure how long that would take.

hm check your correspondence in gckey there should be another letter confirming that you’re eligible to work while you are waiting . That letter must be shown to the employer. My previous WP was valid until Dec 21 (I applied for extension on 4th nov).I started the new job on dec 23 and I showed this letter that I’m eligible to work while I’m waiting for approval it also depends on employers awareness of Canadian laws. I started my job in a law office so they didn’t have any questions because they know the procedure.

When I got my initial work permit back in December, it came back 30 days after I submitted my Basis of Claim form and Immigration got my medical exam.

Did you apply online or on paper?
I can not apply online ,seems complicated .
