Hi, anyone has experienced application rejection? How did you handle it? What is expected of applicant?

So you got an ITA and it was rejected. Or you applied and got 0 and are not eligible. You need to explain your issue.

I got an ITA, applied for PR with all supporting documents at the beginning of Dec 2020. I got an update this week, January 2021 that, my application has been rejected and canceled because it is incomplete. The reason sighted for incompleteness was that my police report did not cover all the period I claimed it should, which is true. The only issue was that the officer quoted a completely different dates than what i wrote in my application. Secondly, with the dates that he/she quotes I was only missing police record for about 35 days which I considered wierd, leaving me with questioning this decision. Overall, I think the officer did not look at this application objectively enough to have made this decision in a rush.

So you didn’t provide the correct information and your application was incomplete. it was rightfully rejected. It is not up to the officer to decide and make a decision as you didn’t provide all the information. The officer was objective because you didn’t provide all the information. Enter the pool again.

It does not seem that you understood my points. I gave as much details that could have helped anyone to read, understand and provide helpful answer but I think you mixed it up. Thanks anyways.

But you stated, “The reason sighted for incompleteness was that my police report did not cover all the period I claimed it should, which is true.” So you did submit correct police reports. If so raise a webform, to ask for reconsideration and error in the officer’s notes.

Unfortunately rejection is automatic if the PCCs you provide do not cover the entire period required. You can try submitting a new PCC that does cover all of the period required and requesting reconsideration through a case specific inquiry. (Note that the new PCC must cover the missing days.) The chances are very high that IRCC will not consider this request since your application was correctly refused as being incomplete. However you can certainly try.

Most likely you will need to re-enter the Express Entry pool, wait to receive ITA again and then submit your application again, this time making sure your PCC covers all of the dates required.

Good luck.

What do you advise in a situation whereby the officer quoted a completely different date for missing document. To be precise, the PCC was for 2010 but the officer quoted 2013.

I would like to point out that the MISSING PCC period was in another country where I lived in 2010 as against the officer quoting 2013. He wrote 2013 twice on my rejection letter. I would have taken it as a mistake if only quoted once. I am deeply concerned about this.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

It clearly sounds like an error. It's pretty easy to copy and paste the same date error twice.

Your application was still correctly refused.

Since you are deeply concerned, you can raise a webform to correct an error in dates. The officer quoted the wrong date by mistake. However, it doesn’t change the fact that your applications was incomplete so it was correctly rejected.

I agree with @scylla . Unless there is clear and irrefutable evidence that the officer has made a mistake and/or an administrative error caused the refusal of your application, it is extremely unlikely for your application to be re-opened.

You would be better off re-entering the pool and starting over.

Thank you folks for your replies.

May I please share your opinions about inability to obtain work reference letter because the company has shut down. What are valid options open to a Canadian Express Entry prospective applicant to be able to submit a complete application?

You could submit all relevant documentation that you possess (like offer letter, paystubs etc) along with a notarized letter from your manager / senior colleague. This should suffice IMO.

What other incomplete documents could lead to automatic rejection?
