Hello,

I am planning to apply under CEC and I have some questions to clarify.

1). After gaining 1 year experience, do I still need to keep working in the same job I am claiming points? Is it possible to quit after getting 1 year work experience and after getting ITA and AOR ?

2). For CEC I know that we do not have to show POF. But in case if I can quit, then do I need to show POF since that job is not available.

Your input is really appreciated

Thank you

1. No you can leave your job
2. No don’t need to show proof of funds.
Thank you so much for your response... I have one more question, under CEC, foreign work experience, I have almost 2.5 year experience but I saw even if we claim 1 year or 2 years I get the same points. Can I either claim 1 year instead of 2 years in this case? Because I have some vacations taken in between so I am not sure if I will fall for 2 years but 1 year for sure...

You can leave your job if only you don't claim 50 points for the job offer
Yes you can claim 1 year instead of 2 years if you don't have proof for 2.5 years. Your experience letter will have to show you worked between date to date (vacation doesn't matter unless it is a long term leave); not sure if you want to lose points by claiming only 1 year instead of 2

I am under pgwp so I think 50 points doesnt apply to myself..under CEC 1 year and 2 years getting same points for foreign work experience.

  1. You can leave your job before applying for PR, just make sure you've actually accrued enough hours.
  2. You never need PoF under CEC, period.

Regular vacations 2-4 weeks are allowed. You shouldn't think that because of that you'll lose any points.

Also either 1 year or 2 years it gives the same points under CEC, so does it matter if I go with 1 year eventhough I have 2.5 years experience.

PGWP can’t claim 50 points unless there is an approved LMIA.

You can leave your job but it is not advisable until you get your PR. That way if Cic makes their own calculation and finds that you are short of hours, you would have already covered the remaining hours they may need. That would also address your second question.

Doesn’t matter. Is your month long vacation paid?
No it was not paid.. will that be a problem because for CEC foreign experience doesnt need to be continuous right, so if I calculate my hours for whole 2.5 years I will get minimum 1 year work experience. I want to add 1 year for the safety side. Please advise thank you

Thank you for your response. Yes I will make sure I will have my required hours, I work full time so i think i can cover it in 52 weeks.
