Hello,
I am working in India for 2 years now. I have some funds in WellsFargo, US. Can i show those funds in my proof of funds? And What will be the process for that?
As I can not travel US, I hope online bank statement copy is sufficient from there?
Thanks for help and any suggestions!

According to IRCC's website:

For proof, you must get official letters from any banks or financial institutions where you’re keeping money.

Letter(s) must

  • be printed on the financial institution’s letterhead
  • include their contact information (address, telephone number and email address)
  • include your name
  • list outstanding debts such as credit card debts and loans
  • include, for each current bank and investment account, the
    • account numbers
    • date each account was opened
    • current balance of each account
    • average balance for the past 6 months

Yes, if your bank is nowhere heard of, you'd better get paper docs. But if it's a recognized US bank, no such need. I only provided PDF monthly statements, I did not even bother to visit my US bank branch and ask for any formal letters. GMCS notes confirmed that it was approved without any doubts.

Of course the statements did NOT say when my account was opened. And also they did NOT include any average balance for the past 6 months. Just normal monthly balance information. No outstanding debts were mentioned there either.

I was looking forward for an answer from an experienced user. Especially because in US i never noticed signed bank statements, PDFs are considered official most of the time.
Thanks a lot for the reply! :)

In US some banks call it "Validation of Deposit". In some banks you can download validation of deposit where it shows average balance right from the website. But it may show for 3 months. You can call up the helpline and they can make one which shows average balance for 6 months. They will send online and in most cases the letter won't have any signatures.

Alternatively just submitting 6 months statements is also fine.
