Hey,

I had to leave for India due to a family emergency last month and have to stay longer because of a dental emergency. Yesterday, my PGWP got approved. My study permit is no longer valid, but I have a valid student visa till March 31st. I was wondering what my options are to come to Canada if I don't have a physical copy of my PGWP. I spoke to IRCC about 5 days ago and they asked me to fill out a web form to request that it is sent to India, but, the permit got approved before any update from the web form. I do have a valid job contract in my field of study at the moment in Canada, where the boss is willing to write a letter that they need me in Canada.

Thank you for your help! Sorry if I made this thread in the wrong section.

I guess the fastest way of traveling to Canada would be this:

Let IRCC send the physical copy of PGWP on the Canadian address that you put in your application. And once it is there, ask your friend/family to courier it to you (should take 3-4 days max -- choose premium/expedite courier services). Asking IRCC to send it to India might take much longer. Also, your TRV is no longer valid. You will have to apply for a new TRV once you get your PGWP. That might take weeks too since the backlog is huge in India.

Also, are you sure you cannot travel on study permit? My friend traveled after graduation (India-Canada). But he hadn't applied for PGWP when he traveled. Maybe since you already got PGWP, study permit is invalid even though the expiry date is March 31st. But still try to confirm this with IRCC representative.

Consult an immigration professional or a lawyer, do not rely on this forum alone.

First TRV is still valid doesnt matter if TRV was for study, they are all the same.

There are the 2 options, either your PGWP is sent to Canadian address or to India.

In the past people have traveled without the PGWP and gotten in to Canada no problem, because they can check the system at the border that you got PGWP, however now with covid not sure you will be allowed to get on flight without the paper.

You should also get that letter/contract from work because an essential reason for travel is required.
