Hello Everyone,

I am 39 yeas old and have been running my own business in India for last ten years. My education (bachelors & masters) has been in I.T.

However i wish to pursue business related degree in Canada as this is an area where my knowledge is less and I also think it will help me in my business. My business is fin-tech.

I am targeting May/June 2021 intake and I want length of the program to be 1 year. I have applied to a college in B.C and for admission but wish to explore more in Ontario.

I have few questions and will be glad if anyone can help me:

1) Which are good colleges in Ontario for business related Post grad diploma ?
2) Even though my background is in I.T since I am doing business I can justify doing a marketing course as it can help my business Or do I need to do in IT only.
3) When I apply for visa should I apply for myself first only (later for spouse if mine gets approved) or myself & my spouse together.
4) Is life/studying in Toronto or nearby better than Vancouver?
5) Any other advice you have for me

Regards,
GR

Have you looked at other options to secure PR if that's your goal? As a business owner it doesn't make much sense to pay large fees to study in Canada. You have to prove how your studies in Canada will lead to career advancement based on your previous education and work history. You will often have to show why you can't study in India and why it makes sense to spend a large amount of money to study in Canada and how will it help your business when you return. Your application screams immigration and not genuine student. You also already have a masters degree so doing a post graduate marketing degree 10 years into running your business doesn't make a lot of sense. Had your business been younger and had it been an MBA I think you could justify it a bit more. You should definitely still apply. I could be wrong and you could be approved but consider addressing the issues I have highlighted in your SOP.

Other options of getting PR is not working out. Study permit is the only way. Most courses are available in India but quality of education is higher in Canada. What to do?

You'll need to try to convince the visa officer that you are a genuine student, that you'll return home after your studies and that leaving your business to study and spend lots of money will lead to improvements in your business.

Convincing visa officer, does this happen face to face or my SOP should be written in that way.
