Hi guys,
Need some advise. I am an international student and have applied for SOWP for my wife and visitor visa for my daughter who is 6 years old. My daughter's visa has now been rejected asking me to apply for study permit. At the same time in my wife's case we have been asked to take the medical test again. Given below are my queries:

1. Is it a positive sign that they have asked for retaking medical test in my wife's case because they could have simply rejected the visa if they wanted to?
2. What is the chances of my daughter's study visa getting approved?

Can anyone with similar circumstances share their experience with us, it would really be great .

1. No difference as it is part of the process.
2. Processing times are long. You will have to pay international fees for your daughter’s schooling so you will need to show funds either for private or public school. Are you in Canada now? Or accompanying them.

Because you are in Canada, you may have to enrol and pay international fees to your child’s school. Then you can apply for the study permit. You will know when you begin the application process as it will tell you to download LOA and paid fees.

As an international student attending school your children can attend Canadian public school without paying if they have a TRV or SP.

There isn’t a published guideline that tells applicants how yo get permits/visas approved for family members of international students. Students attending a masters or PhD program do seem to have a much higher chance of approval. It tends to be faster to get a study permit approved/refused if you apply for study permit without your family. If there is no chance you would study without your family accompanying you, you might consider applying all together.

I have a doubt, I'm a citizen and resident of India. But I plan to visit Dubai and stay there on a visit visa for 3 months with family. During this time can I apply for student visa? Do I have to physically be present in India during visa processing for medicals and biometrics? Or can get medicals and biometrics done there ?

Iam planning to accompany my lil one who is 18 months old and leave the other two back home. I also had an EE profile 2 years back.

Anybody here who has been in the same boat?

I will be thankful if somebody can relate or has heard of an outcome to a situation similar to this.

Depends on your program of study (masters?) and how it leads to career progression in your home country. Also who will look after your child. Daycare is expensive and hard to find depending on where you live. There are waiting lists and due to Covid many parents are without care because of reduced numbers.

Depends on your educational background and language scores. Acceptance is the easy part since if you can pay the fees you will get the acceptance. The difficult part is getting a study permit.
