Hi guys; just got my GCMS note and it was stated in the note I quote;

* I have reviewed the application; taking the applicant’s plan of study into account, the applicant does to appear to be sufficiently well established that the proposed studies would be a reasonable expense. Given family ties or economic motives to remain in Canada, the applicant incentives to remain in Canada may outweigh their ties to their home country. The applicant plan of study appears vague and poorly documented. Weighing the factor in this application. I am not satisfied that the applicant will not depart from Canada at the end of the period authorized for their stay. For this reason I have refused the application. I need your advice

VO asking for another VO's advice?
Anyways it indicates that VO got a feeling that you are already established in your profession and will not get much from the chosen course. Also your documents of family ties to home country aren't strong enough to satisfy VO. And your sop was poorly written?

What was your course? Current occupation & what have you studied. Family in Canada? Do you live in your home country?

I got admitted in Nursing, I’m a makeup artist and I also sell skincare products. I’ve gat family in Canada but didn’t indicate it in my application cos we don’t bear same surname. I studied biology education in my home country. I live in my home country (Nigeria).

When I applied I didn’t summit an SOP; I studied biology education; I also didn’t summit documents of family ties to home country. That’s why I posted here cos I will be re applying again

“Given family ties or economic motives to remain in Canada, the applicant incentives to remain in Canada may outweigh their ties to their home country.”

The officer believes that you will not return home. You want to take nursing so why don’t you take it in your home country where you will be taught local practices and do your practicum in Nigeria. Becoming a nurse in Canada shows you aren’t planning on returning home.

An objective look at the notes implies that the VO was on the fence and willing to be tipped either way (approve or refuse).... it looks like the decision was a close one. My advice is, reapply with a clear and crisp (not too long) SOP. More effort in to explaining the reasoning behind your choice of program and university plus showing ties to your country (family and assets) should put you in a better position for the VO.

Hey, can you let me know when you applied for the GCMS notes. I'm still waiting to receive them, even after a month since I applied

Can you share the date when you applied in September, as well as when you received them? That seems like a very long processing time for a GCMS request.
Sorry it’s October 6th
Date received: 30th November

In some cases Gcms Notes are taking longer. See post#2839 for more information about extensions
