Visitor visa extension question

So my parents have a multiple entry visit visa and they were supposed to leave on 23rd August as per the 6 months timeline however we applied for their visitor visa extension due to covid before the date and are still waiting for the results. My parents now want to go back in December and come back in summer next year.

1. Do we need to withdraw our application or leave it as it is ?

2. In either case from point 1, do we need to inform CiC about the change in plan or is it not necessary.

3. Also, will the officer at airport know already from the system that all this happened or my parents still need to carry some documents to show that ? Their passport was not stamped at the airport when they came in.

if anyone can answer these questions it will be great. Thanks in advance.

1. Yes
2. Yes you must inform them that your parents left. It is your best interest because you will save money and avoid having to pay for things like a medical.
3.They need no papers to leave Canada
