Hi everyone! I'm convicted with DUI this november. Will there there be a chance I can still renew my work permit expiring this february and will my PR application be processed? Thank you for your advice and answers.

Yes, it will so get a good lawyer as you may now be inadmissible when reapplying. What was your BAC? Did you plead guilty?

Have you been convicted or are you just charged with the DUI at this point? If you have just been charged but the conviction not decided yet, hire a good lawyer and try to get the charges reduced to a non-DUI charge.

Naturgrl, thank you for your reply! after crown disclose the evidence, the lawyer working on my dui case advise me that we better plead guilty, then I decided to do so.. you mean I need a immigration lawyer to help me work on the work permit renewal or PR processing?

OMG, In Canada, the Criminal Code BAC limit is .08% so you were way over. You are inadmissible to Canada so will need an excellent immigration lawyer.

Thats my greatest problem today Naturgirl, its so stressful that I couldn't even sleep enough. My family rely on me but this happened to me, our dream to stay together in canada might be forever dream if I can not be given a chance or help.

As already said, you need an excellent immigration lawyer. I would start looking for one now. What kind of work permit do you hold today? How were you planning on extending it? Have you already applied for PR?

1. Hate to be the bearer of bad new, but DUI is now seriously criminality, so it is going to be almost impossible to avoid a deportation order.

The company I'm working have immigration lawyer that helping to process our work permit and PR application. My work permit(NOC B) renewal for another 2 yrs is on process and I just got a slot on provincial nominee program for PR processing. I didn't inform yet the lawyer about my DUI conviction.

I assume you have told the lawyer about your DUI conviction?
