Hi,

So my wife has already mailed her citizenship application. My question here is this. She does not have a nickname or alias and she has never had one. She has user her legal name all her life.

Now her email address is her first name and my last name but when someone receives the email. It's her legal name as she uses it for formal communications. She has never changed her maiden name anywhere and never been called by my last name. She has used this email address for CIC correspondence. However she did not put anything for Nick name or alias in the form. Should I contact CIC about this? I am not sure if this would be as issue. For example an officer mistaking her email address for a Nick name. We have around 3 years worth of emails in that account and it clearly shows her legal name beside the email address.

Don't worry. They only go by official govt issued documents (aka mainly passport). Email and phone numbers are just for communication purpose only.
