I got a refusal today, I want to ask if it's a good idea to hire an immigration lawyer in Canada to address the concerns raised by the VO for the refusal before I reapply for a study permit? I am clueless about how do I convince VO, I am not an expert and don't know how people get their visas and study permits approved.

You don't really need an immigration lawyer. They don't come cheap. Share your refusal reasons and profile, perhaps we can help you figure it out.

Please don't go for a immigration lawyer my previous Application I hired a immigration lawyer , I had got a clear rejection... Just order gcms notes .. draft a good strong SOP . U can spend in hiring a sop specialist to get ur sop drafted well. Highlight all the reasons mentioned in ur rejection letter and explain them ... So vo doesn't have reasons to reject u..

Were you successful in your next attempt? I want to hire a proper lawyer and not a consultant.

One thing I noticed it they have not put ties in home country and Canada as one of the reasons, good thing?
Firstly, apply for gcms notes, pronto.

Secondly,
  1. What is your previous education? Does it align with what you propose to study?
  2. What course did you apply for? Which School?
  3. What is your current employment situation?
  4. How much financial strength did you show?
  5. Are you being sponsored? If yes, by who?

They kind of did - with the "personal assets" mentioned. Means VO was not convinced you are established in your country fo residence. Not sure that even matters, seeing as VO ticked almost all the refusal boxes for you :(.

Did you add documents to show your assets, properties etc?

by working abroad ofcourse, I had an amazing job as an engineer.
Great, hopefully you covered that with all the documents. If you did have an amazing job which made you loads of money, why do you need to go back to school? The fact that the VO listed personal assets and financial status means he is concerned about these; either being too little or too much for a bona fide student.

You'll only get your answer from the gcms notes.

I still don't think you need a lawyer, seeing as this is your first refusal. It's like taking an AK47 to a wrestling fight, IMO.
