So they got back to me, just based on me, apparently I need to generate 67 points but that I should apply. Confused!
I'm not sure who you mean by 'they'.

The 67 points is just the minimum criteria you have to meet in order to qualify for Express Entry and submit your profile into the pool. This doesn't determine if you are actually selected out of the pool to submit an application for PR.

What determines whether you are selected out of the pool are the CRS points we have mentioned previously where you need to score 470+ to beat out other candidates.

Sorry they = reply from https://emigratecanada.com/immigrate-to-canada-from-new-zealand/ "Free Visa Assesment". I thought at first must just be a Bot, but took 3 days to get a reply which read "
Your assessment has passed our initial checks, and looks very encouraging. However, we need to be 100% certain before we go any further.

In order to make a successful Express Entry application you will need to generate 67 Points in the Express Entry Program. Given the information supplied so far, it looks as though you are 'prima facie' eligible to make an Express Entry application."

Which is generic, but clearly a human has looked it over to generate this auto style email. I then says "click here to confirm your eligibility"

So its only 470 needed, sorry I thought it was 480. I will have to go over our points again as we were mid 470s with excellent english. Which English Tests should I be basing off, or which one do they use to base us off?

Thank You :)

Consultant will always say you pass the eligibility phase because most do. At your age, your score may be mid 440s...I am guessing.

Calculate your score using the IRCC calculator. Don't rely on or believe what a consultant says. Make sure you do not claim 50 points for having a job offer. You want to respond no to that question.

I just had a look at this site quickly. They have wrong information posted about immigrating to Canada - I would go as far as to say flat out lies. Stay away. Calculate your score through the IRCC calculator. Don't believe anything the site you found tells you.

Yep will do, but which site is that one? Does it ask which English test? Which one should I be looking at? On the calculator I used being conservative was about 440ish, with great English 475. No I didnt go near the work section just said no.

If we are 50 points short, is there a way to earn that short fall?

This is just for Express entry correct? Id like to go in above 470. But we will see.

Is it this? https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/eligibility/criteria-comprehensive-ranking-system/grid.html

This confuses me as it asks very similar questions in each section. Also I do not know if I add up the points for myself alone or if it is a combined score? Because combined on this we are well over. But I dont think it is combined, but not sure why they have a spouse section, or do you just choose from that column etc? As a UX designer I would like to work for them and improve the user experience for their website ;-p

Edit: well it must be adding our points as 2 people, because the maximums would not be enough for an individual to score 450+

:) I have to admit I used a calculator but it was an agency one.

This is the calculator. Say married and accompanying. Don’t do separate scores. Your score probably is 440ish.

If I base it on my Mrs I get 471, if I base it on me as primary I get 350, EEEK. Being Married adds 50 points or so. Thats easy lol

With me having 50% in the IELTS scores, we get to 461. It might come down if hers is only second from the top. But she has no accent and had an English teacher for a mother. She studied in Wales/USA/Otago NZ.

How are you getting those scores? Cut & paste the score. What is your full profile. she is 39 with a PhD & you have a bachelor, correct? Even with perfect language scores, I only get 448 for you as a married couple. You don’t get points for job offer, certification or nomination.
