I am on a closed work permit (valid till Sep 2021), but was laid off in May 2020. I’ve been looking for another full time job since then in Canada.
Recently, I was offered some freelance work by a US based company. The work is for a US company, for their employees in India, and will be done virtually. The work is not related to nor will be used in Canada, by Canadian clients, citizens or companies.
I wanted to know:
a) Can I take up this freelance work and do it from Canada?
b) The payment will be in USD, through PayPal. Can I accept it to my Canadian account? I will, of course declare it for taxation purposes.
