Confused about type of application for visitor visa

Hi everyone,

I have applied for family visit (visitor) visa on Oct 20th and according to the suggestion of this link, I have set my application type as "Other" and typed in the field "COVID-19". I have a sister who lives in Toronto and gave me an invitation letter. Right now, I am applying from US (not a US citizen) and possess valid biometric at IRCC.

Now I have three questions:
1) Was I right to mark my application type as "Other" as suggested? Or this should only be when it's an emergency?
2) Should I fill out application for authorization and statutory declaration (IMM 0006) form and email it to the following email address? I have not included this into my application! :(
IRCC.COVID-TravelExemptions-Exemptionsdevoyage-COVID.IRCC@cic.gc.ca
3) How can I accelerate my application? Should I send an email to the suggested email this link or should just simply fill out the web form?

The online processing time calculator shows unimaginable processing times. Initially it was 351 days, previously it was 182 days and now it's showing 77 days. Unfortunately, I cannot find any recent experiences here in this forum about how long it takes. They say that they only respond to requests about an application that passed normal processing times. But the processing times are highly variant and long.

1) Yes, this was the right thing to do if your reasons for travel are non-discretionary.
2) No, this is only for immediate family members (not extended family members)
3) There is no way to accelerate or expedite your application.

Hi scylla.

Thanks for your response.

About number 2) Here in this link says:
If you qualify as an extended family member of a Canadian citizen, person registered under Canada’s Indian Act or Canadian permanent resident
You must include the signed and completed application for authorization and statutory declaration (IMM 0006) (PDF, 2.2 MB) with your visitor visa application.

So since I have already applied, what do you suggest I should do?

Sorry - my mistake. I'm getting the rules confused. You are right. Follow these steps.
