No CPA isn't a diploma or a degree. It is a license to practice in a profession. You can't get PGWP for completing CPA Exam or courses.

Hi gssidhu19, Thanks for your reply.
So, it means only the course of Canadian universities and colleges can make the candidate eligible to receive PGWP. A bit disheartening.
Could you please tell me that, if I will complete my CPA Canada qualification then would I be able to call myself a Master's degree holder as per the Canadian education system?

Yes - you need to complete a university or college program to qualify for a PGWP.

No - a CPA is not the equivalent of a Master's degree.

Hi scylla, Thanks for your reply.
It is also disheartening, But I have found many courses being offered by Canadian Universities for example Master of Accounting by Carleton university and they are just making the candidate eligible to give the CFE examination of CPA Canada (CFE is the final 3 days exam of CPA Canada).
So, that Master's course is making a candidate eligible to give CPA Canada final exam.
Will that masters course offers a Master's degree or not?

Thanks

Completing CPA have nothing to do with you getting credit for masters. To get your education assessed for Canadian Equivalency, you'll have to get it done through WES. CPA and Masters are 2 different things so you need to have masters to be able to get points for that.

Yes, completing that Master's degree will give you a Master's (i.e this program will be recognized as a master's).

The CPA on its own will not be considered as a master's. I'm confused why you find this disheartening. The CPA is just a designation that you get as a result of taking an exam. It's not a degree.

It is sad, because after doing masters candidate is getting PGWP but after completing CPA Canada candidate is unable to get PGWP. Even when this masters degree is below than the level of CPA CANADA. I am saying it below because after this master degree, candidate has to give CPA FINAL EXAM which means master degree is lower than the professional degree of CPA CANADA.
what do you think?

I don't think you understand Canada's education system.

The Master's is not below a CPA. Again, a CPA is not a degree, it's a designation.

Someone can get a CPA without taking a Master's through self-study. This is what most people do. I work with tons of people who have CPAs and no Master's degree. There's absolutely no need to take a Master's to get a CPA. The programs you have looked at just happen to prepare you for a CPA, in addition to requiring you to take all of the courses to get a Master's degree. This doesn't mean mean that the CPA is a higher level of study.
