Hi again everyone, i have searched all over this forum but struggling to find the answer.

Would my current employer need to apply through the portal under the IMP even though i am already with them under my IEC. My contract with the company is due for renewal. i'm only exempt under my current IEC, would that still apply if my contract was renewed now?

( my IEC expires in 6 months but according to CIC i can get a "extension" through the IMP-program )

it's so confusing.
An IEC cannot be extended. You need to get a brand new work permit.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/coronavirus-covid19/iec.html

Extending or changing your work permit

An IEC work permit cannot be extended past the maximum duration specified in each country or territory’s youth mobility arrangement.

i know it's not a extension, just the wording on CIC
The exemption you are under now only applies to the IEC. If you want to apply for a work permit under IMP, you need to qualify for that independently. You can't 'carry over' the exemption from the IEC to your next work permit.
