my application was recieved Jul.31st, 2019.
I'm just wondering why my COPR was issued by Hong Kong visa office but my PPR was processed by Manila office. Anyway, I'm so happy. Good luck everyone!

Pre-arrival letter received today. Got ghost update yesterday. After almost 10 months from the time my file was transferred to Manila Visa Office.

Hi Everyone - PPR received on October 15 but the passport that was submitted along with the application is expiring on December 2020. Due to COVID restrictions and closures, passport renewal with DFA is scheduled for November 5.

Applicant is having second thoughts submitting the expiring passport as based on experience (I am a landed PR in 2016, applicant is a son of a friend), the expiration of the visa is dependent on the expiration of the passport. If he is going to submit the one that's expiring by December 2020, there's a high probability that the PR visa will expire by December 22. Has anyone been on the same boat or does anyone know if CIC issues visa that will expire beyond the passport expiry date, given the pandemic situations we're all in now?

He emailed the Embassy 7 days ago to request for an extension since he thought of going through the passport renewal first but haven't heard back.

Also send a web form ASAP explaining the situation, couldn't renew earlier due Covid etc. You are right not to submit the expiring PP in my opinion, with Covid the rules are relaxed a lot. I think you will be fine.

I got it from Tokyo Visa Centre.
I think many people pay shipping for mailing their COPR to their home. It closes to my work place so I got it without shipping fee.

October 16 - Submitted Spousal application through Canada post

October 21 - IRCC received the application (tracked by Canada post with signature)

November 27 - My husband received Acknowledgement of Receipt (AoR) on October 21 (has application # & UCI)

-Checked ECAS tool - IN PROCESS for both Sponsorship & PR Application Status

November 30 - My husband received an email requesting for his Option C 2018 Tax document

December 12 - Submitted the Option C 2018 Tax document through IRCC Webform and Canada post

December 18 - I received Biometrics Instruction letter via email from IRCC

December 19 - I received Medical Instruction letter via email from IRCC

December 19 - My husband received an email that he passed the eligibility to be my sponsor

December 23 - Biometrics done

December 24 - Applications was forwarded to CPC Mississauga.

January 6 - Medical done

January 31 - Account linked online GCKEY

February 6 - Passed Medical test

June 24 - Requested GCMS notes

July 13 - Received GCMS notes, stated they need PA's CENOMAR (no email or message request receive)

July 14 - Submitted PA's CENOMAR via Webform

September 24 - ECAS - Decision Made

October 28 - Pre-arrival letter received

October 31 - Passport, printed letter and photo send to Manila VSF

We got COPR today! The passport and photos ended up going to the Hong Kong visa office but we finally got the update in GCKey today.

Update: Heard back from the Embassy and they approved the request for extension to submit expiring passport. They also mentioned the validity of the visa that will be issued (which is 60 days from the expiry date of the expiring passport that was originally submitted with the PR application).
