Hi Guys,
My mother wants to visit me. I am non-dependent and she already has visitor visa. Do i need IMM0006?
I believe she is immediate family so it should be alright with a relationship proof. Thanks

can you update when you receive Authorization
we just received it:

full text:
Your request to be exempted from the current restrictions to travel to Canada has been approved under the COVID-19 Emergency Orders in Council (OIC) pursuant to section 58 of the Quarantine Act.

This letter is not a travel document and does not, on its own, authorize you to travel to Canada without a valid passport, visa or electronic travel authorization (eTA) that you will need to travel to Canada. To board your flight and to enter Canada, you must continue to meet all the usual eligibility and admissibility requirements in the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA).

The final decision on admission to Canada is made by Border Services Officers at Canadian ports of entry. In order to be admitted into Canada, and in addition to meeting all the usual entry requirements, foreign nationals must satisfy the examining officer that their entry to Canada is for a non-discretionary rather than a discretionary purpose, if travel is for less than 15 days.

Important: You must present this email when checking in for your flight, or you may not be allowed to board your flight to Canada. You must also present this email to a Border Services Officer upon entry to Canada.

This decision has been documented in Canada’s Global Case Management System.

This authorization is valid for multiple entries into Canada and valid for a period of six months following its issuance. It is only an assessment that you are authorized to travel to Canada under the extended family member exemption. It is intended to facilitate travel, but it does not guarantee travel to or entry to Canada.

You are responsible for your own travel arrangements and this exemption does not grant you access to repatriation flights facilitated by the Government of Canada.

If you are travelling by air, you need to pass a health check conducted by airlines before you are allowed to board your flight. Anyone who shows symptoms of COVID-19 will not be allowed to enter Canada by air.

When you arrive in Canada, we will assess your health before you leave the port of entry. You must have a plan to quarantine for 14 days when you arrive in Canada and be prepared to provide evidence of your quarantine plan to the Border Services Officer upon entry. This is mandatory, even if you have no symptoms.

Hello, I would appreciate if someone can help me out! For the extended family authorization does your TRV need to be approved for you to apply? If your TRV is in progress can you still apply? I am just confused on this part

Hi everyone,

I'm kind of confused at the moment and need some advice. Has anyone requested a written authorization for extended family members and received an answer yet?

I did - and I received written authorization. I attached the correct form (IMM0006) that is only for extended family members and requested via web form.

The problem is:

The authorization letter is saying: reuniting with immediate family members. I have a valid eTA and don't need written authorization for immediate family, only for extended (in this case my boyfriend).

That is written in the letter:
Your request to be exempted from the current restrictions to travel to Canada listed in the Interim Order to Prevent Certain Persons from Boarding Flights to Canada due to COVID – 19, no.3, authorized under section 3(1)(b) of the Order in Council, Minimizing the Risk of Exposure to COVID-19 in Canada Order (Prohibition of Entry into Canada from any country other than the United States) has been approved.
Important: You must present this email when checking in for your flight, or you may not be allowed to board your flight to Canada. You must also present this email upon entry to Canada.
This authorization is only an assessment that your presence in Canada is for the purpose of reuniting with your immediate family members. To board your flight and to enter Canada, you must meet all admissibility and other requirements, as well as other applicable laws and regulations. You will not be allowed to travel to Canada for reasons of an optional or discretionary nature, such as tourism, recreation or entertainment.
Can somebody tell me if I have a correct written authorization now, or maybe something went wrong?
Thank you, have a good day.

No, from the instructions if you already applied for a TRV in progress you should email them so they can prioritize your application. We've had an extended family member's TRV in progress since March and are in the process of submitting the application for the Authorization and Statutory Declaration for Extended Family Members. This has to accompany your email to them as your supporting documents to show they're eligible to travel to Canada.

What do we fill in purpose of travel while filling IMM006 form?
Information on Canada.ca says "
When answering the question on the application form about the purpose of travel, enter the following information exactly as written to make sure your application is prioritized:

  • For question 1 a) purpose of travel, choose “other” from the drop-down menu.
  • For question 1 b) description field, write “COVID-19” exactly like this (you must use capital letters)"
but this is to be filled while applying for a visa.
Can somebody suggest what do we put as purpose of travel on IMM006 form if we want to apply for fiance as extended family member?

I'm not too sure, I asked a professional in immigration and it seems that the applications are not processed faster. This will only prove as a documentation for you to enter Canada if you have a valid visa

Hi everyone, just curious how everyone is writing their reasons for travel, and how much detail are you providing?

In my case, my mother is coming to visit me because she is helping me buy a house. She lives with my younger sister, and since we cant keep my sister alone in another country during COVID times, we want her to come too. I am confused how I should explain all this in the best way in the email/application.

Thanks for your inputs!

No. She should bring proof that her child is a PR and that your sister is her daughter. They may ask to verify the information at the airport to determine if she qualifies to go to Canada.
