I saw somewhere that you shouldn't be traveling before 3 weeks from the start of your session but i cant seem to find any official documents or anything to prove it

How much is several weeks as you can’t work. You need to build in time to quarantine but usually they don’t want students coming in more than 3-4 weeks prior.

You can't travel to Canada before 3 weeks from the date of new session at your college/university (Was told in one of their webinars)

Those in this thread making reference to a mere suggestion on a Webinar need to be more convincing with their reference. 21 days or 25 or maybe 28 will probably be OK. Don't land 2 months before the start of your program of course.... But the 3 week rule is not set in stone.

Where are you getting this 3 week stuff from? I've never heard of such a thing. But remember, most universities and colleges are closed in Canada from approx Dec 20 to Jan 2. I would avoid travel then unless your school has told you that you can arrive during that time.

If you want to make it to your assigned dorm room by the time they are open for the winter semester which is around the 10th of Jan, then you need to land in Canada sometime around the 20th of Dec to complete your 14 day quarantine and prepare to move in to your room.

contact them via phone. I have asked them the same question via email but they responded (response attached below) with a general answer and did not specify anything.

My Email
Dear Canada Border Services Officer

I have applied for a study visa for January intake at "UNI TITLE" which is included in the list of DLIs with approved COVID-19 readiness plans. I am preparing to enter Canada given that my study permit is approved. I have learned from unofficial sources that students currently enrolled in January intake can only arrive in Canada 3 weeks before classes start. Can you please confirm if this statement is true so that I can plan my quarantine arrangements accordingly?

Sincerely
My Name

(Their Response)

Please refer to the special measures to help study permit holders affected by COVID-19.

Note that there are several factors that BSOs must take into account before determining whether a person is admissible into Canada, and each person will be dealt with in person on a case-by-case basis. The burden of proof rests with the foreign national seeking entry to Canada to satisfy the BSO they are admissible in accordance with the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and Regulations. In general a person must have in their possession appropriate travel documents and be personally admissible into Canada and support the validity of their activity.
