All the assessments of eligibility and admissibility except for the spouse medicals in my file have been completed and now the file has moved to Niagara falls for review on Medicals (as told by an ircc agent over call on 21st Oct 2020)
My spouse has ckd, and his medicals were graded M5 (MOF rationale-yes)
Is the file moved to Niagara falls for pfl or I can still hope a positive response and approval.
Pls guide me as to what should be my next step.
Your help and guidance will be highly appreciated.

The M5 grade refers to:

Inadmissible due to excessive demand on health and social services.

For all M5 codes, the medical officer will add a descriptive code indicating the nature of the excessive demand:

  • T9 - for excessive demand on social services;
  • H9 - for excessive demand on health services;
  • E9 - for displacement of Canadians who are on a waiting list.

MOF refers to Medical Observations & Furtherance

At Niagara falls a determination will be made on the status of your application based on medical inadmissibility.

Since I am not privy to you case as such, this is the information that I can provide.

Hence , the decision is yet to be made and I may or may not receive a pfl, right ?

Before a final decision is made, if you are medically inadmissible, a PFL will be sent to you to show why you are not inadmissible. Medical inadmissibility based on M5 will be further categorised and based on whether it is T9, H9, or E9 it the cost threshold will be establish as required.

The cost threshold is determined by multiplying the per capita cost of Canadian health and social services by the number of years used in the medical assessment for the individual applicant. This cost threshold is updated every year. The annual cost threshold figure for excessive demand on health and social services has been updated in January 2020. The average Canadian per capita health and social services cost has increased from $6,839 to $7,068, and 3 times that average has been updated from $20,517 to $21,204.

Thanku so much @legalfalcon
It's certainly not the end of the journey for me.
One more thing I wanted to know, what if we wish to remove the spouse from the applicant through a legal process now so that the chance of getting a pfl is reversed.

Yes he has diabetes and hypertension and we disclosed it to the panelled physician during the ime and during the Medicals only we came to know abt his CKD as well. As of now I m just clueless as to what their decision would be.

You cannot remove your spouse from your application. Your spouse must pass the medical in order for your application to be approved.

Under the Canadian immigration law irrespective of whether your spouse is accompanying to not, you have to list them in the application along with all dependent family members. All family members listed have to be admissible for medicals for your application to be approved.

If any family member, accompanying or not, is inadmissible for medicals, the entire application is refused.

Not showing a family member in your application amounts to misrepresentation.

Hi,
Do you know maybe how long it takes for the CMAU to process medicals that are in review?
My son have autism spectrum disorder and it was transferred to CMAU.
We are very nervous from that.. :(
