travel outside of Canada before PR expires

I am a resident in Vancouver BC. my RP card expires on Jan 29th, 2021. can I still travel to Hawaii in Dec 2020 and return in Jan 2021?

Yes you can. Assume you are compliant with your PR. If you're not you risk being reported but will be able to enter.

Thank you Canuck 78. This is helpful. I have been working in Van for the last 5 years and only left Canada for vacations. So I am good to go for another vacation in Hawaii. That's great to know.

Yes you are fine then as long as you don't get stuck in Hawai.

Would make sure you buy travel inaurance that covers covid or you could end up with a huge medical bill if you happen to catch covid while in the US.

As per my reply in a separate thread just be aware that Canada/US has travel restrictions in place reviewed monthly that do not support non essential travel which is what a vacation would be considered unless there are conditions meeting any exemption criteria.

Seems that given where Hawaii is that they have a Hawaii specific travel exemptions for inbound travellers from Canada subject to a covid test 72 hours before arrival.

Also no sign the 14 day quarantine will not still be required on return to Canada
