Hello Everyone,

My Canada Visa was refused yesterday. This is the VO's comments.

= I am not satisfied that you have truthfully answered all questions in the documents you have submitted in support of your application, as required by subsection 16(1) of the IRPA. Specifically, I am not satisfied that the following information is truthful: Your answer to question 2(b) of the background information section of form IMM-5257.

I went through the question and it reads " Have you ever been a refused or permit, denied entry or ordered to leave Canada or any other country or territory."

I mistakenly filled NO considering only CANADA without bearing in MIND the second part of the question OR ANY OTHER COUNTRY or TERRITORY while truly I went to US interview last year and was refused.

I need a help on how to tackle this nasty mistake of mine because I want to reapply.

Thank you.

Is that all your refusal letter says? Does it say anything about being found inadmissible for misrepresentation?

It's extremely important to answer all questions on immigration applications truthfully.

That is the only thing they said in the letter just yesterday and the be honest it wasn't intentional that is why I am seeking for an advice on how to remedy the situation or how I can now present to to them that it was not an intentional act. Thank you.

If they didn't say you are banned then you can just apply again, now you have to mention both rejections.
Yea, I want to apply but what argument will I present now since it was not intentional on my side to fill No on that question. Thank you.

Now it's difficult appealing for a refusal. The most you can do is send an email to your local visa office, but that will just waste time as they won't respond or you can order your refusal notes from them which are detailed CAIPS notes and that can take time as well, so it really comes down to your statement of purpose and how you structured it. For your travel history; if you had none, then you can just put that at the end of your stay you will be returning to your home country and you are only going for study and that's it. For financial assets; you should be providing bank statements and if parents are supporting then their affidavit of financial support, proof of funds (where the money came from), employment letters for you and/or your parents if they are supporting you and property documents. For purpose of visit; you need to demonstrate to the visa officer, on how this program that you chose relates with your current studies and why you intend to study in Canada specifically and not elsewhere.... So I am not sure if you mentioned all this or not..

You can't appeal, especially with 3 things mentioned in the refusal. Your application is closed so you have to apply again. Get notes to see the real reasons (takes about a month) and then go from there

Hi OKV,

What did you do finally after you received the refusal. I am in a similar position.

I was also refused a US Visa at the embassy and I filled in NO on that question. I submitted my Canada work permit application 2 weeks ago so it is still under processing. Not sure what I should be doing as I realized this issue just now.

Thanks

Thanks for your reply. Will this delay the application processing? Have you or others have had experience in having such errors corrected after the application was submitted?
