Got the answer - after requesting passports, ircc sent to my husband a letter called 'Authorization for Exemption from COVID-19 Canadian Travel Restrictions' which he must present before boarding the flight, so immediate relatives basically can enter Canada as well with this kind of doc

We didn't apply for this authorization, but that's what the letter says - "Your request to be exempted from the current restrictions to travel to Canada listed in the Interim Order to Prevent Certain Persons from Boarding Flights to Canada due to COVID – 19, no.3, under section 3(1)(b) of the Order in Council, Minimizing the Risk of Exposure to COVID-19 in Canada Order (Prohibition of Entry into Canada from any country other than the United States) has been approved."

It also says "You must present this email when checking in for your flight, or you may not be allowed to board your flight to Canada. You must also present this email upon entry to Canada"
HI. Congratulations. May I ask when you and your husband submitted your application? Thank you.

Thanks for the response Anna. We applied together in Russia.

I have a question - did you and your husband receive Passport requests together? I received mine today but my husband still didn’t get BV letter

We received all the updates at the same time for both of us

Will do, I wrote them a query asking to approve both of us since we are exempt now. They didn't reply to my letter yet, so that gives me hope that maybe they will remember about my husband and give him at least BVL. Our timelines got separated since he had to go through additional exams, thus pushing the passing date for 3 months. His medical is now passed, but I really want for us to come to Canada together

Hi there, did you raise a webform or email them for a travel exemption letter. My spouse and I have visa approved, my spouse has an OWP however, we haven't received any exemption letter. Is this required for entry? We are planning to travel by mid of November. Please help!

Hi, no, we didn't ask for it, it came the next day after OPR. I suggest you contact your IRCC, they have to send you one as well. I suppose without it you may have trouble boarding the flight.

The should not be any problem. When you launch your application together, it clearly means that you need support of your spouse. If student is allowed to travel, there is no way ircc Canada will stop spouse to come. It will become ethical issue. Ircc will never issue you ppr until both are not allowed to travel. How can ircc separate a family who applied together? There are thousands of frauds who will send their Wife first for study and then husband will apply visa after for easy entry. Ircc can very well delay spouse visa in this case. However, if applied and got approved together, ircc has no rights to separate one.
Applied together or separately, there is nothing called easy entry! Each applications are approved based on eligibility and permitting spouse to enter Canada with student has nothing to do with ethics, as it is just a privilege that international student gets and not a right!

That is true, but so far it seems that IRCC either approved both or denied both if applied at the same time. I imagine there are exceptions if spouse is medically inadmissible or overstayed before, but it is more of extraordinary circumstances rather than a law
