When I spoke to IRCC officer, I was told 'as of today if you're traveling from USA with COPR, we're good. He also said visa-free nonvisa-free doesn't apply if you're traveling from USA to Canada!

Travelling from the US
You can travel to Canada from the United States to settle and live in Canada as a permanent resident if

  • we approved your application and
  • we sent you a CoPR
Hello Kennedy - can we travel via US Canada border on Expired COPR visa in July ? However we still have visitors visa from the past that is still valid

Hi just wanted to check here is anyone has soft landed recently and came back?

are the border officials asking any questions?
Also do we need to carry any financial document while getting COPR signed? It doesn’t say in COPR

I wouldn't describe what I did as a "soft" landing, but I did land in Canada with the eventual intention of returning to the States. I would have said so if asked; I wasn't. However, my situation is unique.

Not in my experience, but I'm just one person. They certainly could, and if they do, you need to be truthful with them even if a truthful answer might risk your being asked not to land at that time.

You should have proof of funds on-hand in case they ask for it. They may not, and didn't in my case.

Hi

quick Q. In arrivCan app it asks if you are exempt or not. I am not sure what to enter there. Exempt is for specific categories. I don’t think PR landing is under exempt. What did you enter for that ?

I think I said I was not exempt. It wasn't an issue. They just glanced at my confirmation code.

If I send my passport how long will it take to get it back? Can someone please help if this is what you were also asked?

What is your country of citizenship? As I understand, if you are a US citizen, this is unusual. US citizens only need to send a scan of their passports. However, citizens of some other countries are required to actually send the physical document. If you're a citizen of one of those countries, my understanding is that this is normal.

As far as time to get it back - I have no idea at this point. Hopefully someone else can help you. Normally it wouldn't be too long, but with COVID it's hard to say.

Oh, thanks! I am from India. Hopefully, someone who has got CoPR recently can throw some light on this.

Usually it takes 2 weeks. You can find my timeline here --> https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-i...ds/covid-and-expired-copr.697456/post-8919399

You can also keep yourself updated on recent timelines using this tracker --> https://myimmitracker.com/en/ca/trackers/cpc-ottawa-passport-processing
Thanks a lot! I was reading somewhere in this forum that people who have sent the passports didn't get it back for a few months. So was worried to send ours. Your timeline gives me hope!

Hi, Does anyone know if we can send a prepaid envelope to a different address than the one on file? I am temporarily staying in a different place but my permanent address is what I have given to CIC. Can someone suggest if it is okay have it delivered here?

It’s okay to have a different address on file and have your passport delivered to another. Just make sure you create a correct return label and also mention the same address as return label in the form that you are sending with your passport.

I'm going to drive a rental car to Canada. As I have to take the 14 days quarantine, am I allowed to return the car then take the Uber back home before the quarantine?

Thank you!!

After sending the passports, how will I know when it gets approved? Will they indicate in the CIC account? Or is it only known after getting the passports back?
