Just finished a phone call with IRCC agent. To be honest, I find calling them useless. They couldn't tell me how are they processing PRs, what does the 'finalise application' process mean (actually she did say it's just writing the landing letter - so I asked why is it taking so long, she said she doesn't know), what to expect next, why certain offices work faster than others (like Sydney vs Ottawa), what is considered 'essential worker'.. She pretty much kept saying that she doesn't know. And I asked what can I do and she says nothing. So here goes nothingness again. Very frustrating. :(
To be honest, a call center agent cannot answer those questions simply because they do not have the data to give you truthful answers. She cannot say why the officer is taking so long to finalize your application. She cannot answer why offices work faster than others, although logical answer would be different offices have different number of resources to deal with the incoming applications. It could also mean higher number of applications are received by certain office, etc...
Regarding essential worker, they are not considering for permanent resident visas, only for temporary visa applications they are prioritizing essential workers from what I read online.
