Hello! I currently graduated with my masters in Counselling Psychology and am applying for my PGWP. I have a "job offer" to work at a private practice firm but in order for them to pay me they are asking me to have a sole proprietorship. So I technically wouldn't be their employee but would be paid through them. My question is 1. Am I allowed to do this on a PGWP? 2. Will it count as experience towards CEC for PR? I have found it very vague and confusing to find these answers. Thanks in advance!

You can do this but then the work experience most likely will not count towards CEC since you'll be self employed based on the information you've provided.

Thank you!! Can I ask where you found this information?

Basically what you'll want to determine is if your employer will be issuing a T4 to you. That's what IRCC largely uses to determine if the employment was self-employment or not. Based on the set up you've described, your employer most likely won't issue a T4. That's what you need to discuss with them to confirm which way this will go.

Okay, thank you so much! This is helpful. So, if I did some private practice work I would be okay as long as I am not trying to count it as my CEC experience?
