I'm going to do a bridge program in Nursing at Omni college
IELTS: 7.0
I applied under SDS
This was the study plan I used
I am a registered nurse(RN) and an Orthopedic Nurse in Nigeria. I am currently working with International SOS since May 2nd, 2018. Before then, I worked with Grandville medical and laser and I also volunteered as a team member for malaria sensitization, menstruraion matters (an initiative to distribute sanitary pads to the less privileged girls) and Kclare healthcare foundation ( an initiative to take care of the aged in their respective homes)
Having worked in Nigeria as a RN and Orthopedic nurse in Nigeria for the past years, I have experienced the lack of basic amenities, specialized tutors and a struggling education system. Keeping pace with best nursing practices has become increasingly impossible to achieve in Nigeria. My need to have an effective and efficient education that can improve my competency, relevance and ability to give care to the over 160million people in Nigeria demands that I train with Omni college to build my knowledge and practical skill far beyond my current level. In fact, this program would also train me for leadership roles in Nursing, and I would be able to drive the necessary reforms needed in my country to make the nursing education and practice a better one.
Omni college is well known for her integrity, quality and affordable education and for her unsolicited support to international students. This in addition to the excellent Canadian culture, system, cost of living and values on which Canada is built on makes Omni college the very best school for my education.
I thus applied to Omni college and after going through the admission process and meeting with their stringent requirements for admissions, including a phone interview with a scholol representative, nursing assessment examination, relevant and significant working experience, curriculum vitae (resume) and a good score in a test of English language proficiency (IELTS), I was offered an admission.
I have been granted admission to do a Canadian Nursing Review program for Internationally Educated Nurses and pursue my dreams through a 12 month program in Canada that prepares me to be an excellent nurse that would meet worlds standards including that of Canada.
I understand the tuition fee costs (already paid) and the cost of living expenses that will come with this opportunity and I am financially capable of seeing myself through. I have a total of 13,793CAD for my living expenses. This is my personal money and I will be taking it to Canada to ensure I have sufficient funds to see me through the course of my program.
At the completion of my studies I will return to the numerous responsibilities that I have in Nigeria, including taking care of my parents, and impacting the community I grew up in, who counts on me for their wellbeing and health. Impacting my immediate community with the skill and knowledge acquired from Omni college would be my first step of several in changing the Nursing practice system in Nigeria which is my ultimate goal.
