Hello,

As per the SINP website, we need to provide the following documents from the close relative in order to claim points. I wanted to know if it's mandatory to provide each one of these documents in the application? What if we can't provide utility bills and the lease agreement?

  • A birth certificate, marriage certificate and/or any other official government, education or religious documents that prove your relationship to your close family relative. The SINP does not accept affidavits.
  • A copy of the relative's Canadian permanent resident or citizenship card, or Canadian passport;
  • Proof that they have been living in Saskatchewan for the past twelve months and are independent:
    • Utility bills from the past twelve months from SaskPower, SaskEnergy or a city or town office. (We will not accept telephone, cellular or cable bills);
    • Saskatchewan Health Card or Saskatchewan driver's licence;
    • Proof that the family member is a registered tenant of a Saskatchewan address (a lease agreement and rental receipts or a proof of ownership). Include the names of other occupants at this address and their relationship to them; and
    • Proof of receipt of income for the past three months.

Thanks!

Well you have to prove that your relative has lived there for at least 12 months. Health card, driver’s license, income.

I can get all that but what about the utility bills and lease agreement? What can one do if that’s not available?

You have to get as many as you can to prove that they live there. So they live in Saskatchewa?

If you have their pay stubs, drivers license, health card, and some proof of address that they are independent then you should be ok.

I have the same case. Just wanted to check whether you apply without utility bills and everything is ok. Did you get the PR? Have they requested any additional alternative documents for utility bills?

Following on this too. If anyone has claimed points for close family relative, please tell us what documents they ask for.
