My wife gets odsp for disability currently living with her mom

If we applied to geared to income housing would that effect our application? Or would she have to pay it back? How would it work?

Looking into all options we can on this

Are you talking about subsidized housing when saying “geared to income housing.” Subsidized housing isn’t social assistance.

It is subsidized housing capped at 30% of income

Also any idea how we go about applying for it? Currently living with my wife's mom and looking into getting into some housing when we apply do we list both of us on app? Even though I'm a vistor to canada? Or just her?

Has she already been approved as your sponsor? If she has.... Rent geared to the income she currently has is ok.

In regards to the application she can't add you until you get through. Do you plan to work a regular job? If so I wouldn't go for that type of housing. 1 she won't get through for now that list takes years unless your homeless or in danger. And 2 when she adds you and your working the rent will just go up to market rent.

Well yes I plan to work a regular job but we are thinking short term how to get out of her mom's house asap

She hasn't reached sponser approval stage yet is that when she can apply? I don't know how it works (if so she will probably get it this coming couple of weeks because looks like March apps are being processed right now)

Where do you live. Social housing is usually through the city or township. Cities like Ottawa have waiting lists of 5 years or more.

Kirkland Lake Ontario but plan to move to timmins Canada eventually the town I live in is super small rigjt now

Look up Cochrane/Timmons social housing. Most likely a waiting list & find out if you need to live there first before you can apply.

Short term you'd have to pay rent. You won't get housing that quickly. But as they said... Check the waiting list. Don't put yourself on the application until you get PR.
