Hi Seniors,

I've applied for my Canadian citizenship and would like to know, do I need to pay off all my "amount owing" to CRA or filled previous years taxes would suffice?
Let me know what you guys think. There is no specification as to amount owing but filling taxes is must for citizenship.

Thank you everyone who will reply to this thread,

They are interested if you have filed, not about the dues paid.
My colleague has still tax due issues that are open till now even though he already completed oath couple of years ago.

Thank you for replying!
You should be taking steps to pay off your taxes. Even if you are able to secure citizenship it will eventually catch up with you and the penalties will only continue to be added. If it goes to collections some agencies pursue people internationally.
