Validity of spouse open work permit after study permit holder graduation

Hi Guys,

I have a matter I could not clarify with regard to Spouse Open Work Permit (SOWP). If I explain in detail. My wife's SOWP and my study permit was until 31/12/2021. But I completed my studies (29/03/2018) and got my PGWP on 26/05/2018.

I wanted to clarify whether she can continue on her SOWP until the expiry date(31/12/2021)? Or does it expire 90 days from my graduation date(29/03/2018) ?Or does it expire 90 days from the date I got my PGWP?(26/05/2018)

Need to clarify this since I do not have a NOC 0,A,B job offer yet to reapply for a new OWP for her. So planning to change her status to visitor based on your opinions.

Hi, there is a remark on his sowp which is saying that it is only valid if spouse is a full-time student. So should we ignore this remark and keep working?

If a student completes her studies in April 2020 but her study permit is valid till December 2020, then what should the spouse do? If spouse's open work permit expires in Feb 2021, then should he stop working in April 2020? OR December 2020? OR Feb 2021?

Expires with validity of that work permit. But don't know what happens after that. If you come to know please let us know.

The Sowp validity is given till 2022 April
But I'll finish my studies in 2021 April
After I get my PGWP will his sowp expire?
Or is he good on his work permit and needs extension after only 2022 April?

Isn't it directly related to the length of my studies and then when my status changes( student to worker) , his status should also be extended?
Just want to make sure because no where a proper explanation is written

I couldn't find a clear explanation too. But from what I read, open work permit has it's own validity. Ideally they should keep it for same length as study permit validity but that is not the case. So after studies, IRCC cannot ask spouse to stop working if work permit validity is more and study permit expires earlier or student completes study earlier. If you find something else, please share. But this is what I found after asking multiple people.

@gta88 If the student finishes their studies earlier than the original permit expiring date, this will not affect their spouses sowp original expircy date and the spouse can continue working, right?

So what you are basically saying is that the study permit and the sowp are independent regarding expiring dates?
