Update a citizenship application?

I got asked this question in a different thread and was hoping someone knows the answer.

A bunch of us have our citizenship applications in limbo because of the test cancelations. So, we renewed our PR cards. Once we get the new cards, do we have to update our citizenship applications with the new pr card?

I’ve been trying to call the IRCC, but have been on hold for over an hour and I’ve had to hang up because of work. I’ll keep trying, but it would be great to know if it’s something I even need to worry about. Thanks!

No need to update about PR card. Because PR card is not acceptable as proof in application processing. Even if you want to update them, you can use the web webform to submit them

It asks for photocopies of all passports and travel documents.
Someone correct me if I am wrong but your PR CARD is not classed as a travel document. You do not need to include it with your application for citizenship. As per the guide, you can’t even use it as a personal identification document.

You’re correct dw. They explicitly say not to provide a copy of the PR Card

People overthink a lot. I don’t blame them either especially with the long timelines of these applications
This as well as some other reasons. I didn’t send a copy of mine in, but I know a few people who did because they had some major hoops they needed to jump through for their applications. They decided to send in copies to support other documents they sent in and travel timelines they listed in the application. They’ll probably just update to be on the safe side since it doesn’t hurt.
I figured I’d do a preliminary check in the forum while I try and get through to a person in the IRCC. Also, I don’t think the actual forms list what qualifies as a travel document, I know I looked it up at the time.

Hey I didn't mean anything bad by that - I actually over thought quite a bit when I was submitting my application (read a lot into whether or not I required a PCC and that jazz). Plus no better place to clear any lingering doubts than this forum.

Regardless, even if hypothetically a PR photocopy was required, you wouldn't be required to submit it since it is not a travel document you held during your eligibility period i.e the 5 years before signing your application. So all-in-all, you should be good.
