Hi, can you please guide me what is processing time for prtd under humanitarian grounds, And why it takes long to process?
No specific timeline but it can take quite a long time. Many months usually but have seen many take over 6 months.

Hi I am planning to book my ticket for October 30 as I have a PRTD approved through email. Shall I proceed with booking and send the itinerary to get LOA. Or is it advisable to hold until VFS Opens. I did my landing in Feb 2020
Hi, Can you please share details around applying for PRTD? My husband and I landed in Feb 2020 and our PR cards haven't come to the specified address we provided during landing. We're also planning to apply for PRTD as we're in the process of giving interviews. Really appreciate your help!!

Thanks for your response. Before I start applying for PRTD, I do have a couple of questions in filling the form:

1. What is the timeline of receiving PRTD from the time we apply?

2. Do we have to book flight tickets as part of filling the PRTD application?

3. How long is the PRTD valid for? and how long in advance do we typically apply? I'm planning to travel in Jan 2021 and want to have confirmation atleast a few months before.

1. Hi, I applied in July and at that time they were approving PRTD in a week's time. So, you can expect to get the PRTD within a week, but be prepared to wait for a bit longer as some of them are waiting for a month.

2. No the itinerary is not necessary at the time of application. Once after approved, and if you are planning to travel immediately within 30 days, then they give you an option of sending the itinerary so that a Letter of Authorization for travel would be provided. No need of stamping required on passport. If you have more time then you can wait for VFS to open and then send your passports to get the counterfoil stamping.

3. I got the PRTD in July and it is valid until January 2020. Typically, once approved it is valid for 6 months. So, I would suggest you to submit the application now and you will get the approval in time.

Hope this helps

Hi Gokul, I’m just filling out the PRTD form and would help your inputs in filling out the below:

Question 14: Your activities & employment:
If we list down our existing employers, would there be any additional documentation required from the firm by IRCC? If yes, can we put ourselves as non-employed?

Question 16: Absence while accompanying a Canadian citizen or permanent resident outside Canada:
Since we completed short landing and came back, both of us are not employed by Canadian employers at this time. Can you help us how to answer this question?

Question 18: Statement of Consent:
I do not have a SIN number at this point, is it still acceptable to tick yes and not provide SIN?

Thanks again!

1. No, we do not have to provide any documentation regarding employment or education, since we have provided them for our PR application. So, just the documents on the PRTD checklist is fine.

2. You can select 'No', as we were not accompanying any Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents who are employed by a Canadian company while being in India

3. You can select 'yes' but leave the SIN number box empty as you do not have one now. Did you not get your SIN number while you did your soft landing?.

Thank you so much. No, we didn't take the SIN number right away :(

Also, will applying for PRTD hinder our PR card application process in anyway? We're still following up with IRCC on our PR cards.
No, even my PR card is still in process since Feb 2020. We are already a PR since we landed, so it shouldn't create any hindrance for the PR cards.

@gokul0989 We also landed in March 2020. They processed my wife's PR card, but didnt process mine, although we provided our mailing address. Apparently, they have abandoned my PR card application, and have asked me to apply for another PR card or PRTD. I think it might be same with you. You should check with IRCC
