As long as the combined income is over the required income for the number of people in the family, you are fine. They only look at per tax year.
They also do not care if you are employed or not. As long as you plus your co-signer's combined income is enough to support the family size. And you need to continue to maintain the income level after you applied.
Thank you so much for helping me. Yes I will fins job for sure. Since its lottery system. I dont want miss the chance my parents name come up.. Thank you again !!

Interesting. So this means people will have to predict income for 2020 and guess if they will meet the requirements. IRCC has never done this before.

That basically means we are going to have a lot more people submit entries into the lottery who don't actually qualify.

Looks like this is shaping up to be yet another train wreck...
o_Oo_Oo_O

LOL!

Frankly this lottery is far worse than FCFS.

We can't have capable responsible people being rewarded for being prepared and fast in their submissions because it will sideline those who are physically handicapped.

So instead of having a separate number of FCFS slots for the handicapped, we revert to.....

everyone being equally screwed using the lottery system.

Thank you to those lawyers who saw a one off opportunity to sue the government as well.

back to lottery means no more business for the immigration lawyers for PGP too.

That's not actually accurate. The accurate answer is "we don't know and need to wait for further information to be published". What you've said was the rule in earlier years. However in the 1-2 most recent years, this was not the rule and income levels for each year were aligned to the number of dependents in that year. So in OP's case, his wife wouldn't be counted until 2020. My expectation is that the Liberals will continue with the rule from last year. But again, we'll need to wait for the rules to be published.
Thanks for letting me know. I wasn't aware of this new income rule change,

You really don't need immigration lawyers unless you have a complicated case. Regardless, getting a lawyer is always an option but not a must.

Hi all,

I am not clear why 2020 income is mentioned for PGP-2020. I thought income of 3 years prior to 2020 (i.e. 2017, 2018 & 2019) will be considered for PGP-2020. Will they accept application considering income of 2018, 2019 & 2020? Or ps it because process is going to be finished in 2021, so they may ask for income proof of 2020 as well, but we still need to prove income for 2017?

I am asking as I will be eligible to sponsor my parents if only income of 2018, 2019 & 2020 is considered. I landed in 2017 so income of that year was not sufficient.

If you’re invited to apply, you have to provide proof that you meet the income requirements for each of the 3 tax years before the date you apply.

We can’t assess whether you meet the income requirements until you apply (if you’re invited).

Note: the minimum income requirements for the 2020 season aren’t final yet. We’ll post them here as soon as we have updated information.

Two conflicting statements. Not sure why they state about 2020, probably people who were eligible for 2017, 2018 and 2019 then due to COVID situation might not be able to continue their financial state stable during the application.

I agree. It is personal choice.

Some people will spend their time trawling the internet and forums for good advice. Sometimes get wrong advice. Sometimes get opinion.

But hey it's free money wise. Although they have to spend time filtering and understanding.

Going to a professional for advice costs money. But sometimes it is worth it.

As we type here, this forum is hosted and paid for by.....you guessed right a LAW FIRM.

I wonder how the lawyers feel about the Lottery vs FCFS? Which one do they prefer for their clients?

I think they must have been happier with the FCFS. But the heavy handed approach by some lawyers screwed their market again.

I don't understand why you think lawyers would prefer FCFS over Lottery. The amount of time to complete the work for their client remains the same, whether it is FCFS or lottery. Unless you are referring to the amount of potential clients to screw over. Under FCFS, everyone will want a lawyer if needed. So they will get their money regardless if the client managed to get in the cap under FCFS or not. Under the lotto, only those selected will consult a lawyer if needed.

They rather have 100,000 possible clients to screw over under FCFS compare to 10,000 (2020 PGP) or 30,000 (2021 PGP) possible clients under the lotto system.

You have a very negative impression of lawyers.

I think the majority of them do assist clients when they are asked to.

FCFS is better for business for the lawyers as you agree (see bold)

To say those clients are "screwed over" is not very fair.

Since everyone is saying that, it will be lottery system for PGP-2020 instead of FCFS, so are they going to allow everyone to fill the form between Oct 13 - Nov 3 and randomly choose 10000 applicants from all the applications received ?

Hello friends, iam fairly new to this program and would like to understand on how to apply. I have read on the CIC website in general as to how the program will work. But I am trying to understand where exactly will the link be posted and how much time will be given to complete the form, do we have to create an account or something like GCKey?

Hey All, I have taken an EI in 2019 for 3 months. Does that disqualify me from applying? My NoA/ line 150 is above the min requirements posted by ircc. Its just the EI that I am not sure about.

I landed in 2017 & didn't met income requirement in 2017. I meet income requirements for 2018, 2019 & will meet it in 2020 as well. Am i eligible to apply in PGP 2020 based on these income levels? I am worried that may be CIC will ask for 2017 income.
