Hello "harirajmohan", "iamBeingPatient", I am happy to inform that i got an emergency appointment approved for next thursday. So I originally got an appointment for Dec 3 rd and I opted for "expedite" option explaining the reason for requesting expedite (family reunification and emotional stress which is the main reason). Hope I get the stamping. Thanks again for guiding me during this stressful times.

Stamping should not be a problem. Its same process. That too for H4 the major verifications (wage, client, sow etc) are not there hence as long as the principal applicant's company is paying regularly then no issues. Just take recent payslips and 2 years of W2 too along with other documents.

Ok. They might respond few days earlier too. What date did you request the appointment for?
I also submitted request on Sep 21 to Toronto for oct 5 appointment.
For the backup date, did you find any regular appointment date? Mine is Jan6.

Edit on Sep 22: I got the appointment approved for Oct 6th. I gave the reason as Financial loss since i am paying 2 rent(Canada and US). I planned to move before covid started hence i did arrangement earlier but got stuck. So possibly they considered this problem and approved the expedited request and it seems we can request something other than the emergency reasons listed in the site.

My closest location is Montreal. Available dates showing as 8th April 2021. I am planning to put an email with expediate request. At this point of time, is it a good time to see which consulate is having good acceptance rate for interview( like toronto or montreal). or just go with it.

Like I said earlier, you should consider preventing requesting all stations which might give problem both for you and them to process requests. There is no reason for sending expedite requests to all.

If you book the appointment then the expedite request will automatically go to respective consulate only.

Yes, i am not sending any multiple requests. i haven't booked the appointment yet. was confirming with you, if montreal is ok for visa interviews. I haven't heard anyone going for visa interviews to montreal atleast in my close circle. so just asking you if its approval rate is good if book appointment there.

Possibly he is also near to Toronto like me hence we request here. So if Montreal is nearer to you then montreal is fine. No difference between these two.

Acceptance rate: No one knows the % of success as its just 2 people at toronto and one person at halifax applied and received approval but we cant say for sure that its 100% success if we apply in toronto/halifax. So you will have to just take a chance at some consulate. And if you have a real need to get visa soon then they would approve.

No appointments in any consulate as of just now. Time to time one or two comes up.
Even last month or so, most consulates were ahead of Jan except Calgary and no appointments for most consulates.

I think that they are still trying to decide on when to open the consulates hence blocking all remaining appointments and not releasing new month for appointments ahead.
Also for some consulates it already reached March 2021 hence no point in opening new dates while these guys are just not opening consulates anyway.

But you can keep your application ready to book the appointment whenever its open. So to avoid delay at that time, you should keep your application and profile ready and finish the payment to wait. But no one knows when they will open the consulates. State department has already told months ago that they will start reopening but still not happening, not sure if there is any internal memo to keep dragging till EO expiry or till election to decide.

I really dont know how strict they are. We will have to see if someone went to some other consulate without being questioned.

It hardly take 30 mins to fill new one. Any appointment date showing for Montreal now?

Once you book the appointment then there will be a way from home page(click on continue and then you would see links like reschedule, cancel, request expedite etc).
Finally court has now stopped the ban hence they might start soon on regular appointments.
