Bad news, friends ... Quebec has just announced a lockdown for 28 days from Thursday, October 1 ... The same thing seems to be emerging soon for Ontario ...

I think our friends who used the '' code 699 '' will jump because of happiness, now ...

In other words, the horizon is darkening for us, totally.

This story will take years and years, maybe a decade ... If no way of online testing is considered by IRCC CIC ...

As I feared, the announcement of the gradual resumption of re-testing only, and only for the Vancouver area is a non-announcement in itself: No progress. Smoke screen

Citizenship therefore continues to be technically canceled, de facto ... As long as nothing is considered. Online solution is the only chance ... Waiting for resumption of in-person services = waiting years and years.

If you're ok with the idea of waiting for years and years, it's ok to shut up.
Otherwise, you have to come out and demonstrate and show that you exist. Alert the press, contact our local deputies, etc ...

The choice is yours.

Lol. And still you chose Canada?
Yes we’re all supposed to look into the application formats for simple governmental processes before we immigrate to a place, because that’s the most important criteria. Get a grip - it’s normal to criticize and hold governments to account for unnecessary and outdated bureaucracy.

Who or what makes you say that?

Explain to us, please.

With all due respect, you are speculating here, so a false hope. It can be associated with passivity I think.

I think that, unfortunately, the more this attitude of passivity of the candidates will continue, the more the employees of IRCC CIC will continue to take advantage of the current blocking situation (disposition 699 + power of their union) to continue to relax quietly without doing anything with it. our taxes, and the taxes of all Canadian taxpayers (or not) ...

Time flies very quickly, and years go by, and as I presume, the union will require a daily ratio of new infections of the virus of zero cases + an effective vaccine ... Which means that the blockage could continue for years even after the release of an effective vaccine ...

In short, with the general attitude of passivity and unresponsive expectation, I decided to accept this calamity. It will take years and years, maybe 5 or more. Nobody can know, before being able to hope to be a Canadian citizen (... To assume that the council party does not come to break the dream of everyone by setting the record straight to zero, and by changing the rules retroactively).

As I expressed in a previous post, I think the cultural element plays in this passivity, I quote:

More than 85,000 applicants are waiting for citizenship tests, do you have any idea how big this clog is at the 0 speed we are at right now? it could take years and years to fix it, dont you know how things work here? being naive doesn't help anyone

Corona will not go away. And i don’t believe they will leave our applications in the air . Something must change to adapt to the new normal . Life must keep move on.
Please check the disastrous backlog from 2010 to 2014
We must do something or wait for 3 to 5 years

It is a disaster yes, if we wait years maybe there will be a similar wipeout strategy , similar to what happen when immigrants who applied under the Federal Skilled Worker Program before Feb. 27, 2008 . if an immigration officer did not make a decision on their case by the end of March.

If we dont work today ( with covid situation) we will be laid off, we dont have pension, or money to support ourselves for long. We are forced to work with pandemic. If we loose work and health we are screwed, been a Canadian citizen is the only light i see in my life where at least my work situation and life can become better.

I dont see why there is double standard. Corona is not vanishing, vaccines will not solve any issue. certainties and anxiety keeps us awake at night. I dont see solution. I hope IRCC can feel us a bit and do something.

Hey folks. I don't want to be alarmist. But I think our window is closing for in-person group activism. E.g. gathering in Ottawa or in front of IRCC offices. Covid is predicted to spike in about a month (see https://covid19.healthdata.org/canada?view=infections-testing&tab=trend&test=infections) and is already starting up in Quebec and Ontario. E.g. Montreal has been put on red alert - https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/covid-19-montreal-quebec-city-highest-alert-level-1.5741399

Soon, public gatherings will be restricted and governmental sympathy will move away to deal with the raging crisis. This means that no action will likely be taken for several months at the least.

Also, the liberal government has just survived the throne speech confidence vote so they might have a more lenient ear towards the plight of the 85000 citizenship applications in limbo.

So there's probably a good few weeks remaining to gather for protests and activism before we enter into increasing lockdown country wide. How do people suggest we organize nation wide on a single day of simultaneous mass protests countrywide? We probably need to coordinate with the media to drive the highest impact.

i would accept granting me the citizenship without test, once the pandemic is over , iw ill be more than happy to go to write the test.... if i don't pass , i don't see any problem from revoking the citizenship...Government should show the flexibility

I wish your words come true, They should find a way to deal with testing. I applied in February 2019, still no test invite. Last I checked with ircc they said file is test ready but tests and interviews are canceled due to Covid.

You should have. Not only Govt, most companies in Canada are like that while searching for jobs. If the Governmental processes are similar to the place you came from, whats the use of you immigrating here. You should have immigrated to a country which has better govt. processes like you stated in your post.

Yeah, And increase their workload by doing all this. I think this is such a impractical solution.

That's late though right. Normal processing time was 1 year before Covid. So you should have got it by Feb 2020. Any idea why it was delayed? I heard you can order GCMS for this as well, have you applied for one?
