Hello there!

I am planning to study in Canada next year and my wife is planning on joining me with spouse open work permit. She is now working as a registered nurse in our home country and we are wondering if she will be able to continue working as a nurse with the spouse open work permit? We are aware of the requirement to register as RN/ LPN with the province but we want to make sure if the spouse open work permit will prohibit her to work in the healthcare industry.

Any help/ advise is appreciated! Thank you!

By default the spousal open work permit will not allow her to work in healthcare related industries. She will need to get a medical done and then apply to remove the healthcare restriction from her work permit. So yes, totally doable with an extra step.
