Hi @legalfalcon,

I would like to know what is the process of CIC picking the files. My AOR is march 4 and I got my eligibility passed by a case processing agent as mentioned in GCMS notes on April 30. I gave biometrics on march 10 and I saw all the status are positive like rcmp screeing, biographic data..

what can be the possible reason my security and criminality not getting passed from atleast 5 months.. when we can see applications with AOR late march getting PPR letters or atleast everything is Valid by now for them. What can be the reason that the file is not getting picked by an officer even when the AOR date is early march..

I would be really thankful to you if you guys explain me the situation and is there any way to grab attention to the file when there is nothing wrong as per gcms and still no progress when files with later AOR are getting concluded by same office.
Thanks in advance!

There is no specific protocol or way in which IRCC tackles files. There are numerous reasons why a file may not have been worked on, from the via office your file is at, the workload at that office, the complexity of your file and now the COVID-19 protocols.

Also, your AoR is Match 2020, you have not even crossed 6 months. The average processing time is 6 months, and as per the 2019 yearly reports from IRCC, it went to 9 months. Given the COVID pandemic, it may take even longer for some files.

As long as you your eligibility is passed, everything will follow. You can send webform or request your GCMS notes from time to time.

Hi, was the agent any more specific; "everything has passed". If accurate it could mean exactly that but not necessarily. Have your raised a web form as well?

I raised webform about my progress of pr application and it says Eligibility is currently valid and on the same day I called agent and he said Eligibility is passed. Which one should I believe?

Hi, thanks reaching out. Unfortunately there isn't any way to grab attention of the officer to review your file, each application is unique and will follow its course. There is a myth that requesting GCMS can create movement in the processing of the application; no such thing and requesting your GCMS from time to time will do no good either. Moreover, IRCC is taking longer to process applications even before COVID-19

One bright side is that your Eligibility is passed by an agent. You should look through the notes to see if it reveals any additional information, if, why a review is required.

All the best.

When you call IRCC call centre, they look at page 2 of your GCMS notes and inform you. Even if your eligibility may be recommended passed it may still show passed under the assessments. The same is the case with webform responses, which are ambiguous. However, one thing is clear that your eligibility is recommended passed or may even be passed.

Thankyou very much @legalfalcon .. Although 6 months are finished 2 weeks ago.. you are correct which implies wait is the only option and I have to be more patient!

thanks for your valuable comments!
Have a good day!

Thankyou @caipsnotes for putting your valuable time to help me through. I have ordered gcms notes 2 weeks ago just to see latest updates.. as of old notes, there is no review required or additional information request. Waiting is the only option i guess as of now!
Have a good weekend!

It is the date when your document is added to the file and not the date when you sent it. Seems like your eligibility is recommended passed or even passed.

See https://bit.ly/3kuXMq1
  • · The application is still in process.
  • · The responsible office is currently verifying if your application meets the eligibility requirements under the immigration program for which you have applied.
  • · The security background verification has not been initiated.
  • · The criminal background verification is in process.
Due to the ongoing situation related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), some IRCC offices are currently operating with reduced or critical staff only.

This reply was from IRCC in august. In which they say they are reviewing eligibility and in september they said they have not intiated.

This could be because you have your eligibility which may have already gone through an assessment by an analyst or assistant. After the eligibility is passed by an analyst and assistant, then the eligibility is finally reviewed by an officer, who makes a final determination. It seems like you have had an analyst or assistant recommendation on eligibility and that is why the webform response states so.

However, the webform responses are ambiguous, and the only way to get an exact insight is through GCMS notes. You can wait for a few weeks and send another webform and see if there is any change.

For more on webform responses, see https://bit.ly/3myRaZr

If you are in Canada, you can request your GCMS from IRCC or CBSA for free and validate.

Actually I did it yesterday coz what agent said doesnt match with webform. In my 2nd webform its says MEETS the Eligibility and in my 3rd webform it says currently valid. So I called agent and he said Eligibility is passed. So I order gcms. But these webform are absolutely not accurate
