Hi!I constantly keep seeing many people asking how to order gcms notes; although it's been answered hundreds of times on this forum. This is courtesy of Kinza_Bee and many other contributors on how to order GCMS NOTES!
How to apply GCMS / ATIP notes.
Only a person who is in Canada can request the notes. Get your sponsor to request on PA'S behalf!
If principal applicant is in Canada, he/she can request for himself and apply for free under Privacy Act.
If sponsor is requesting it on behalf of Principal applicant, you need consent form from PA and $5 fee. You can receive consent form from spouse via email and upload it. Apply under Access to Information Act.
It takes about 30 days to receive by email. It is a ~30 pages document (can be more than 30 pages)
Consent form:

Legally speaking no. But it seems unlikely that they would figure it out, since the only person that has to sign the consent form is you.Hi!
Thanks for such detailed information.
I just need one clerification;
I have an acquaintance in Canada. He don't know about process of applying for gcms, neither he has time to learn the process. If I put his data in the requester's field, and apply by myself pretending to be him, and then Pay $5 fee through my Pakistani Master debit card. Is it OK, to do that.
Please let me know asap.
Thanks in advance.
This is normal, unless IRCC has questions or needs clarification you will only hear from them when you receive your file. A new tracking number will not be issued in the meantime. The new tracking number will be in the email subject and file name when you receive the Gcms Notes.Hello Seniors,
I have submitted from GCMS notes under privacy act on 20-Aug-2020. They assigned a temporary tracking number and it mentioned "After your request has been registered, a new number will be assigned to your request".
But after that, I haven't got any new tracking number or my GCMS notes.
Is that normal? I know it takes 30days to get the notes. But what about new tracking number? Do they we get to know about it?

Do you see an option for Immigration/Citizenship records? There is no option for "Case files".
It may be too soon to request the Gcms Notes, wait at least until you hear back about your web form. As for the address when using ATIP the new address will not cause any issue.I submitted a webform informing about my recent address change but I haven't heard back yet whether the change has been made to my file. I want to order my GCMS notes through ATIP, so if I enter my new address do you guys think that will cause any problems?
What we have to select in "What type of record would you like to request" drop down section? What relevant information should be provided in the space given in the end?Do you see an option for Immigration/Citizenship records?
Do we have to give PR card copy(of the person who is requesting on my behalf) along with consent form as an attachment with this application?Do you see an option for Immigration/Citizenship records?
